Higgs production amidst the LHC detector

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2013
We investigate the spectacular collider signatures of macroscopically displaced, neutral particles that decay to Higgs bosons and missing energy. We show that such long-lived particles arise naturally in a very minimal extension of the Standard Model with only two new fermions with electroweak interactions.

The Nature Restoration Regulation and the Water Framework Directive: enhancing restoration of freshwater ecosystems, or muddying the waters?

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
The Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC (WFD) and the Nature Restoration Regulation (EU) 2024/1991 (NRR) both require Member States to restore freshwater ecosystems. This study analyzes how these two instruments interact, identifying both synergies and conflicts.

Optimizing cerebrovascular endothelial health through shear stress modulation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The endothelium plays a pivotal role in regulating cerebrovascular blood flow, and its dysfunction increases the risk of cerebrovascular disease. Endothelial shear stress, a primary mechanical stimulus for endothelial nitric oxide production, is a key modulator of vascular adaptation.

Pair production of charged Higgs bosons in the Left-Right Twin Higgs model at the ILC and LHC

open access: yes, 2007
Left-Right twin Higgs(LRTH) model predicts the existence of a pair of charged Higgs $\phi^{\pm}$. In this paper, we study the production of the charged Higgs bosons pair $\phi^{\pm}$ via the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to \phi^{+}\phi^{-}$ at the International ...

Modelling the effect of varying metabolic rate and cardiac output on estimated tissue and blood O2 and CO2 levels in an extreme deep‐diver, the goose‐beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris)

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract High‐resolution movement data from Cuvier's beaked, or goose‐beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris, hereafter Ziphius, n = 8) tag deployments (4.1–19.2 days) were used to estimate blood and tissue O2 and CO2 levels. Acceleration and magnetometry data were used to estimate the locomotion cost (LC) from the relationship between activity and the O2 ...

The Primacy of Processes and the Causes of the Russo‐Ukrainian War: A Rejoinder to ‘Patrimonial Imperialism’

open access: yesJournal for the Theory of Social Behaviour, Volume 56, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Pierzynski and Joseph explain the Russo‐Ukrainian war through systemic and individual‐level accounts but argue these are incomplete without addressing Russia's internal structure, which they term ‘patrimonial imperialism’. While their taxonomy mirrors the traditional IR ‘levels of analysis’, I suggest it obscures relational and historical ...

Charged Higgs Production in Association with W Boson at Photon Colliders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It is important to explore the Higgs sector in order to identify the model beyond the standard model. We study the charged Higgs production in the $\gamma\gamma$ mode of a linear collider (LC) with 1000 GeV center of mass energy.

Missed Care Prevalence and Associated Factors in Acute Care Settings: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nursing Practice, Volume 32, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim The aim of the study was to comprehensively analyse the prevalence and factors associated with missed nursing care in acute care settings. Methods A systematic review was conducted to estimate the prevalence of missed nursing care, types of activities missed and associated factors in acute care hospital settings. Five electronic databases (

Who Feels Looked Down Upon? Sources of “Symbolic Violence” in the United States

open access: yesSociological Inquiry, Volume 96, Issue 1, Page 87-108, February 2026.
This paper explores the factors increasing the chances of thinking one's cultural tastes and interests would be looked down upon by others, a sentiment put under the label of “symbolic violence” by Pierre Bourdieu. Using data from a survey fielded in the US in 2017–18 (n = 2,514), it examines the role of social position, lifestyle, family status and ...
