Scattering of obliquely incident electromagnetic waves from periodically space-time modulated slabs is investigated. It is shown that such structures operate as nonreciprocal harmonic generators and spatial-frequency filters.

Theoretical studies of high-harmonic generation: Effects of symmetry, degeneracy and orientation [PDF]
Using a quantum mechanical three-step model we present numerical calculations on the high-harmonic generation from four polyatomic molecules. Ethylene (C$_2$H$_4$) serves as an example where orbital symmetry directly affects the harmonic yield.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Magnitude-Reshaping Strategy for Harmonic Suppression of VSG-Based Inverter Under Weak Grid
Driven by inertial demand from the grid, the virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) are widely utilized in distributed generation systems. However, harmonic sources in the distributed generation systems with high grid impedance will cause grid voltage ...

Detection of Mistuning in Harmonic Complex Tones at High Frequencies
Lau et al. [1] showed that listeners could discriminate differences in the fundamental frequency (F0) of harmonic complex tones containing only very high frequency components, even though the discriminability of those components, when presented alone, was very poor. They attributed this finding to the operation of central pitch-sensitive neurons.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Coexistence of Bloch and Parametric Mechanisms of High-Frequency Gain in Doped Superlattices
The detailed theoretical study of high-frequency signal gain, when a probe microwave signal is comparable to the AC pump electric field in a semiconductor superlattice, is presented.

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
