High-Frequency Over-the-Horizon Radar in Canada
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2018Over-the-horizon radars (OTHRs) have recently been making a comeback in Canada. As the need for accurate long-range tracking becomes more important, less-expensive ground-based radars are once again being considered for more effective long-range surveillance of Canadian airspace. Ray tracing is a powerful tool and is, especially, useful in applications

High frequency oscillators for chaotic radar
SPIE Proceedings, 2016This work focuses on implementing a class of exactly solvable chaotic oscillators at speeds that allow real world radar applications. The implementation of a chaotic radar using a solvable system has many advantages due to the generation of aperiodic, random-like waveforms with an analytic representation. These advantages include high range resolution,

High frequency radar astronomy with HAARP
Proceedings of the 2003 IEEE Radar Conference (Cat. No. 03CH37474), 2004At high frequency, radio waves will interact with space plasmas and surfaces of local astronomical objects, producing an echo that can provide new diagnostic data. The availability at high power radars operating at high frequencies opens a window for the remote investigation of our surrounding space environment. We discuss and illustrate this technique

Timing Signal Generator for High Frequency Radar
2020 IEEE 1st International Conference for Convergence in Engineering (ICCE), 2020In a radar application, Time Signal Generator (TSG) is used to generate timing and control signals which helps radar to operate in different functions. The functions include tracking, detection, and hold mode. Timing Signal Generator is the heart of radar applications.

Interference Cancellation for High-Frequency Surface Wave Radar
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2008The performance of high-frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) is known to suffer from external environmental interference and noise, such as cochannel radio-frequency interference from other radiating source, ionospheric clutter, lightning impulsive noise, etc.

Observation Of Typhoon Meranti With High Frequency Radar System
IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019The 2016 Meranti typhoon was observed with two land-based high frequency radars when it passed through the Taiwan Strait before landing. The HF radar works at 7.9MHz with Bragg wave frequency of 0.29 Hz higher than typical spectrum peak frequency of typhoon generated wave.

High-Frequency Skywave Radar Measurements of Hurricane Anita
Science, 1980We tracked and monitored hurricane Anita over a 5-day period by using the SRI-operated Wide Aperture Research Facility (WARF) high-frequency skywave radar. The WARF-derived positions for Anita agreed to within ± 19 kilometers of the coincident temporal positions along the National Hurricane Center's smooth track.

High frequency radar cross section prediction
Digest on Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2003The essentials of a method developed to obtain the cross section of perfectly conducting targets by considering the surface current components induced on the bodies is presented. This approach treats the surface traveling wave phenomenon, allowing it to be included in RCS (radar cross section) computations for complex objects. >

Waveform analysis for high-frequency FMICW radar
IEE Proceedings F Radar and Signal Processing, 1991The paper describes the waveform analysis for an experimental long-range highfrequency radar system with a design capability for over-the-horizon detection of ocean surface targets up to 400 km from shore with a range resolution of 400 m. Motivated by the need to maximise the transmitter duty cycle in order to detect long-range targets, the radar is ...
