An Adaptive WENO Collocation Method for Differential Equations with Random Coefficients

open access: yesMathematics, 2016
The stochastic collocation method for solving differential equations with random inputs has gained lots of popularity in many applications, since such a scheme exhibits exponential convergence with smooth solutions in the random space.

High order balanced multiwavelets [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, ICASSP '98 (Cat. No.98CH36181), 2002
We study the issue of regularity for multiwavelets. We generalize here the concept of balancing for higher degree discrete-time polynomial signals and link it to a very natural factorization of the lowpass refinement mask that is the counterpart of the well-known zeros at /spl pi/ condition for wavelets.

An implementation of the direct-forcing immersed boundary method using GPU power

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2017
A graphics processing unit (GPU) is utilized to apply the direct-forcing immersed boundary method. The code running on the GPU is generated with the help of the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA).

Blocking S100A9-signaling is detrimental to the initiation of anti-tumor immunity

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
S100A9, a multifunctional protein mainly expressed by neutrophils and monocytes, poses an immunological paradox. In virus infections or sterile inflammation, it functions as an alarmin attracting innate immune cells, as well as mediating proinflammatory ...

Positive periodic solution for higher-order p-Laplacian neutral singular Rayleigh equation with variable coefficient

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
In this paper, we consider the existence of a positive periodic solution for the following kind of high-order p-Laplacian neutral singular Rayleigh equation with variable coefficient: ( φ p ( x ( t ) − c ( t ) x ( t − σ ) ) ( n ) ) ( m ) + f ( t , x ...

Mixed-Field Source Localization Based on the Non-Hermitian Matrix

open access: yesInformation, 2020
In this paper, an efficient high-order multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-like method is proposed for mixed-field source localization. Firstly, a non-Hermitian matrix is designed based on a high-order cumulant.

High‐order multigrid strategies for hybrid high‐order discretizations of elliptic equations

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 2022
AbstractThis study compares various multigrid strategies for the fast solution of elliptic equations discretized by the hybrid high‐order method. Combinations of ‐, ‐, and ‐coarsening strategies are considered, combined with diverse intergrid transfer operators.

Computation of High-Order Sensitivities of Model Responses to Model Parameters—I: Underlying Motivation and Current Methods

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The mathematical/computational model of a physical system comprises parameters and independent and dependent variables. Since the physical system is seldom known precisely and since the model’s parameters stem from experimental procedures that are also ...

Venous Thromboembolism in Pediatric Bone Sarcoma Patients: A 10‐Year, Single‐Institution Experience Encompassing the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing
