High–Power 792 nm Fiber–Coupled Semiconductor Laser

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The pumping of Tm-doped crystal or fiber by a 792 nm semiconductor laser is an important way to generate a mid-infrared laser, which is widely used in various fields.

5 kW Near-Diffraction-Limited and 8 kW High-Brightness Monolithic Continuous Wave Fiber Lasers Directly Pumped by Laser Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
Tandem pumping technique are traditionally adopted to develop >3-kW continuous-wave (cw) Yb3+-doped fiber lasers, which are usually pumped by other fiber lasers at shorter wavelengths (1018 nm e.g.,).

33.8 W Mid-infrared 2.8 μm Er-doped fiber laser with high optical efficiency

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
We demonstrate an efficient, high-power single-end-pumped Er-doped ZBLAN (Er:ZBLAN) fiber laser operating at 2.8 μm. A maximum laser power of 33.8 W at a wavelength of 2.87 μm was achieved with an optical efficiency of 26.4 %.

10.6 kW high-brightness cascade-end-pumped monolithic fiber lasers directly pumped by laser diodes in step-index large mode area double cladding fiber

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
A high-brightness single-end pumping monolithic fiber laser with 10.6 kW output power has been demonstrated through laser diode pumping schemes in traditional step-index large mode area double cladding fiber for the first time, and the configuration of ...

Energy Transfer and Cross-Relaxation Induced Efficient 2.78 μm Emission in Er3+/Tm3+: PbF2 mid-Infrared Laser Crystal

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
An efficient enhancement of 2.78 μm emission from the transition of Er3+: 4I11/2 → 4I13/2 by Tm3+ introduction in the Er/Tm: PbF2 crystal was grown by the Bridgman technique for the first time. The spectroscopic properties, energy transfer mechanism, and

2.58 kW Narrow Linewidth Fiber Laser Based on a Compact Structure with a Chirped and Tilted Fiber Bragg Grating for Raman Suppression

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
We report a high power, narrow linewidth fiber laser based on oscillator one-stage power amplification configuration. A fiber oscillator with a center wavelength of 1080 nm is used as the seed, which is based on a high reflection fiber Bragg grating (FBG)

230 mW of blue light from a thulium-doped upconversion fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We demonstrate a powerful diode-pumped blue laser source, consisting of a 7W diode at 807nm that pumps a Nd:YAG laser giving 1.6W with good beam quality at 1123nm, and a thulium-doped upconversion fiber laser.

Possible explanations for different surface quality in laser cutting with 1 micron and 10 microns beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In laser cutting of thick steel sheets, quality difference is observed between cut surfaces obtained with 1 micron and 10 micron laser beams. This paper investigates physical mechanisms for this interesting and important problem of the wavelength ...
