Enhancing Osteogenesis through Bio‐Inspired Recombinant Coral Protein Galaxin by Targeting Mitochondrial Metabolism and ATP Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study highlights the potential of recombinant galaxin (a coral protein) as a novel and effective biomaterial for bone regeneration. It binds to ATP synthase subunit β (ATP5B) in mouse pre‐osteoblasts, thereby causing increased ATP production and mitochondrial activity.

Cubic Phase‐Inducible Zwitterionic Phospholipids Improve the Functional Delivery of mRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, a chemically engineered zwitterionic phospholipids derived from 1,2‐dioleoyl‐3‐sn‐glycero‐phosphoethanolamine (DOPE), DOPE‐Cx, are designed. The DOPE‐Cx lipids induce a cubic phase upon mixing with phosphatidylcholine, facilitate membrane fusion‐mediated endosomal escape, and enhance the functional delivery of mRNA.

The Type III Secretion System (T3SS) of Escherichia Coli Promotes Atherosclerosis in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Large‐scale studies indicate a strong relationship between the gut microbiome, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Here, a higher abundance of the type III secretion system (T3SS) virulence factors of Enterobacteriaceae/Escherichia‐Shigella in patients with T2DM‐related‐ASCVD, which correlates with their

Unwrapping the Ciliary Coat: High‐Resolution Structure and Function of the Ciliary Glycocalyx

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ciliary membrane is decorated in glycosylated proteins that define the interaction of the cilium with its environment. The main component of the ciliary coat of the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, FMG1, is characterized by cryo‐electron microscopy, proteomics, and live cell microscopy with flow‐based adhesion assays.

Hybrid EMT Phenotype and Cell Membrane Tension Promote Colorectal Cancer Resistance to Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Colorectal cancer cells (CRCs) cultured in 3D soft fibrin exhibit hybrid epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) mediated ferroptosis resistance via WNT/β‐catenin signaling. Unlike 2D cells, 3D CRCs exhibit reduced E‐cadherin, knockout of which further enhances the defense against ferroptosis via adhesion‐mediated tension.

High‐Viability Circulating Tumor Cells Sorting From Whole Blood at Single Cell Level Using Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer‐Assisted Microfiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A laser‐induced forward transfer‐assisted microfiltration system is developed for single rare cell sorting from undiluted whole blood. The isolated cell has a high viability, enabling successful ex vivo cell culture and efficient single‐cell RNA sequencing.
