The physics of Lyman α escape from high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
Lyman-alpha (Ly{\alpha}) photons from ionizing sources and cooling radiation undergo a complex resonant scattering process that generates unique spectral signatures in high-redshift galaxies. We present a detailed Ly{\alpha} radiative transfer study of a

Spectral Templates Optimal for Selecting Galaxies at z > 8 with the JWST
The selection of high-redshift galaxies often involves spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting to photometric data, an expectation for contamination levels, and measurement of sample completeness—all vetted through comparison to spectroscopic redshift

The IRX–β relation of high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
ABSTRACT The relation between infrared excess (IRX) and UV spectral slope (βUV) is an empirical probe of dust properties of galaxies. The shape, scatter, and redshift evolution of this relation are not well understood, however, leading to uncertainties in estimating the dust content and star formation rates (SFRs) of galaxies at high ...

Fluctuating feedback-regulated escape fraction of ionizing radiation in low-mass, high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
Low mass galaxies are thought to provide the bulk of the ionizing radiation necessary to reionize the Universe. The amount of photons escaping the galaxies is poorly constrained theoretically, and difficult to measure observationally.

Is There a Missing Galaxy Problem at High Redshift? [PDF]
We study the evolution of the global stellar mass density in a Lambda cold dark matter universe using two different types of hydrodynamical simulations (Eulerian TVD and SPH) and the analytical model of Hernquist & Springel (2003). We find that the theoretical calculations all predict both a higher stellar mass density at z~3 than indicated by ...

The K20 survey. IV. The redshift distribution of Ks<20 galaxies: a test of galaxy formation models [PDF]
We present the redshift distribution of a complete sample of 480 galaxies with Ks1 and z>1.5 respectively. A ``blind'' comparison is made with the predictions of a set of the most recent LambdaCDM hierarchical merging and pure luminosity evolution (PLE ...

Nearly all the sky is covered by Lyman-α emission around high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
Galaxies are surrounded by large reservoirs of gas, mostly hydrogen, that are fed by inflows from the intergalactic medium and by outflows from galactic winds.

High-Redshift Radio Galaxies [PDF]
Radio galaxies are unique cosmological probes. As with radio-loud quasars, the presence of luminous radio continuum and optical line emission enable radio galaxies to be observed and recognized at large distances, up to z = 4.2. However, unlike the situation for most quasars, their optical emission can be spatially resolved from the ground and studied ...

The Extinction Law in High‐Redshift Galaxies [PDF]
We estimate the dust extinction laws in two intermediate redshift galaxies. The dust in the lens galaxy of LBQS1009-0252, which has an estimated lens redshift of zl~0.88, appears to be similar to that of the SMC with no significant feature at 2175 A.
