Thermal Error Robust Modeling for High-Speed Motorized Spindle
Advanced Materials Research, 2012To improve the manufacturing accuracy of NC machine tool, the thermal error model based on multivariate autoregressive method for a motorized high speed spindle is developed. The proposed model takes into account influences of the previous temperature rise and thermal deformation (input variables) on the thermal error (output variables).

Motor drive for a novel high-speed micro-milling spindle
2009 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2009This paper focuses on integration of a permanent magnet motor with active magnetic bearings for driving a high-speed micro-milling spindle. A new concept of supporting a short rotor with a slotless PM motor embedded by 5DOF bearings is conceived. In the concept, the bearings and motor functions remain independent.

Factor influencing stiffness of high speed motor spindle
2005High productivity and accuracy of metal cutting machines can be successfully solved by the use of high-speed metal cutting machines. The most critical component of any high-speed motor spindle design is the bearing system. The possible improvements in design can be achived in optimal configuration of the bearing system as a function of high speed ...

Bearing load analysis and control of a motorized high speed spindle
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2005Angular contact ball bearings are the most popular bearing type used in the high speed spindle for machining centers. Because the bearing load is increased rapidly with the raised spindle speed due to the centrifugal force and temperature raise, proper initial preload and especially operating-induced load control of the angular ball bearing is ...

Thermal error modeling and compensation for a high-speed motorized spindle
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2014To improve the precision of CNC machine tools, a motorized spindle thermal error model based on least square support vector machine (LS-SVM) was proposed. A thermal error compensation method was implemented, which takes the length of cutting tools and thermal tilt angles into account.
