Design analysis of a hybrid jet-pump CO2 compression system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Transport refrigeration contributes to anthropogenic global warming directly because of leakage of refrigerant, usually using high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, and indirectly because of the greenhouse gases emitted in driving the vehicle ...

Assessing heat pumps as flexible load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In a future power system featuring significant renewable generation, the ability to manipulate domestic demand through the flexible operation of heat-led technologies such as heat pumps and micro-combined heat and power could be a critical factor in ...

The Effect of Purcell Cavities on the Lifetime of Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Emitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pressing challenge to OLED displays and lighting is to balance high efficiency and long operational lifetime in the deep blue spectrum. The Purcell effect can reduce the triplet density and hence the probability for destructive energy‐driven triplet annihilation events that limit the OLED lifetime. Here we study of the Purcell effect on two different

High-temperature heat pumps: Fundamentals, modelling approaches and applications

open access: yesEnergy
Data availability: Data will be made available on request. In March 2023, the European Parliament and Council reached a consensus to increRCiase the binding renewable energy target (RES) to a minimum of 42.5% by 2030, effectively doubling the proportion of RES from the 2020 baseline.

Effect factors of part-load performance for various Organic Rankine cycles using in engine waste heat recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is regarded as one of the most promising waste heat recovery technologies for electricity generation engines. Since the engine usually operates under different working conditions, it is important to research the part-load ...

Closed-cycle gas flow system for cooling of high Tc d.c. SQUID magnetometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A high Tc.d.c SQUID based magnetometer for magnetocardiography is currently under development at the University of Twente. Since such a magnetometer should be simple to use, the cooling of the system can be realized most practically by means of a ...

SI‐bioATRP in Mesoporous Silica for Size‐Exclusion Driven Local Polymer Placement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An enzyme‐catalyzed surface‐initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI‐bioATRP) of an anionic monomer within mesoporous silica particles, using hemoglobin as a catalyst, allows for controlling the location of the formed polymer via size‐exclusion effects between the nanopores and the biomacromolecules, thereby opening routes to functional ...

Experimental Study on Hot Water System with Two-stage Condensation Heat Pump

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2010
When an air source heat pump water heater runs at higher water temperature, the power input and the discharge temperature of its compressor are high, leading to problems of security and stability, and the significant decrease of the system efficiency. In our

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Cycle Analysis of Heating and Refrigeration in New Air-source Heat Pump

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2005
An air source heat pump operating in cascade cycle way was presented. The new-type heat pump can operate not only in a single-stage cycle, but also in a cascade cycle. The operation performance of the heat pump was stimulated.
