Effect of high-temperature tempering on resistance to fracture of heat treatable structural steels
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19751. With increasing tempering temperature (in the range of 620–680°C) the strength characteristics decrease monotonically, while the toughness (aC, T50) reaches a peak with tempering at 640°C. 2. With quenching from the intercritical temperature range the toughness does not reach a maximum value in the presence of more than 5% ferrite.

Tempering Temperature Effect on Sliding Wear at High Temperatures in Mottled Cast Iron
Tribology Letters, 2015This research analyses the effect of the microstructure of mottled cast iron on tribological behaviour using a high temperature pin-on-disc test with a steel disc oxidised at 1,200 °C ASTM A36 as a counterbody. Three different microstructures were obtained for the mottled cast iron pins by quenching and tempering at 400 °C and 600 °C.

The influence of the duration of high-temperature tempering after air hardening from 900 and 1250°C on the properties, texture, and brittle point of steel 25KhN3MFA is studied. It is shown that the negative effect of superheating of the steel is weakened after high-temperature tempering.

Effect of high temperature intermittent drying and tempering on rough rice quality
Journal of Food Engineering, 2007Abstract In this work the effect of the number of drying cycles associated with different tempering treatments on rough rice kernel fissuring and head rice yield (HRY) has been studied for initial and final moisture contents usually found in the rice processing industry.

High temperature gas nitriding and tempering in 17Cr-1Ni-0.5C-0.4V steel
Metals and Materials International, 2010High temperature gas nitriding (HTGN) at 1050 °C and tempering of a 17Cr-1Ni-0.5C-0.4V (CNV) steel were experimentally investigated. The phases appearing in the surface layer of the HTGN-treated steel were martensite and austenite with mostly Cr2N precipitates that were formed by permeated nitrogen, and a small amount of Cr23C6 and VN precipitates. EFFECT OF GLASS TRANSITION ON HEAD RICE YIELD DURING HIGH TEMPERATURE TEMPERING
2003, Las Vegas, NV July 27-30, 2003, 2003Tempering has been shown in literature to preserve head rice yield after heated air drying. Most reported tempering work was done adiabatically at a temperature below that for rice drying. In this study, the effect of a tempering temperature above that for rice drying on the whole kernel percentage was investigated.

High Temperature Rapid Tempering Process of SS400 Steel With Thermomechanical Simulation Tester
Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2012Abstract The effect of refined precipitations and dispersed phases on the toughness of SS400 steel was investigated by rapid tempering with thermomechanical simulation tester, and the electromagnetic induction rapid tempering process was simulated. The conventional tempering and rapid tempering process were proceeded respectively, and both samples ...

Abstract An axisymmetric compression test was used to study the effect of hot deformation and double tempering on the microstructure and hardness of a H21 tool steel. The compression tests used a constant true strain rate of 0.01 s −1 , and were performed in the temperature range 1000–1100 °C after austenising at temperatures of either 1100 or 1250 ...

High temperature tempering behaviors in a structural steel under high magnetic field
Acta Materialia, 2004Abstract An as-quenched structural steel is tempered at 600 and 650 °C for 1 h without and with a 14-T magnetic field. The magnetic field can effectively prevent the directional growth of cementite along martensite plate boundaries and twin boundaries by increasing both the cementite/ferrite interfacial energy and the magnetostrictive strain energy ...
