Modification of Low-Alloy Steel Surface by High-Temperature Gas Nitriding Plus Tempering

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2018
The low-alloy steel was nitrided in a pure NH3 gas atmosphere at 640 ~ 660 °C for 2 h, i.e., high-temperature gas nitriding (HTGN), followed by tempering at 225 °C, which can produce a high property surface coating without brittle compound (white) layer. The steel was also plasma nitriding for comparison.

Microstructure Evolution of a Reactor Pressure Vessel Steel During High-Temperature Tempering

2017
The electron microscopy techniques were employed to analyze the microstructure evolution during high-temperature tempering of a reactor pressure vessel steel. The results show that carbon enriched martensite/austenite (M/A) constituents decomposed into ferrite laths and accumulated carbides during initial stage of tempering.

The influence of subsequent high temperature tempering on tensile strength and elongation of austempered ductile iron

2021
The effect of high temperature tempering on austempered ductile iron was investigated in this paper. Five samples of ductile iron with 0, 51% wt. % Cu were austempered without subsequent high temperature tempering and five samples of same ductile iron alloy were austempered with subsequent high temperature tempering.

Effects of High Temperatures at the Root Zone and the Graft Union on the Development of Temperate Fruit Trees

2000
Among the detrimental effects of warm climates on temperate fruit crops, supraoptimal root temperatures may be of considerable importance, the optimal temperatures varying according to the species involved. Even if we disregard the temperature in the upper 5 cm of the soil, which may reach extremely high levels in subtropical countries, soil ...
