High-Voltage Direct Current Transmission
2020The HVDC transmission is advantageous for power delivery over long distances and asynchronous interconnections by using overhead lines or underground cables. One of the most important aspects of HVDC systems is its fast and stable controllability [6]. Until recently, the classic HVDC transmission based on thyristors was used for power conversion from ...

High Voltage Direct Current Transmission
2012This chapter introduces the two main types of high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission, i.e., the line-commutated current source converter (CSC) technology and its self-commutating voltage source converter (VSC) counterpart, and describes how both technologies can play a crucial role in the further development of power transmission systems.

Metrology for high voltage direct current
CPEM 2010, 2010HVDC energy transmission is crucial for a successful uptake of renewable energy sources in the grid. A research program is described, intended to provide metrology support for the needs of HVDC energy transmission. This program will provide improvements for the present HVDC metrology infrastructure: accurate measurement of HVDC, determination of losses

A High Voltage Sensitivity Direct-Current Amplifier
Physics, 1933It is shown that a negative resistance of a definite value, introduced into the plate circuit of a thermionic valve theoretically allows the voltage sensitivity to become infinite. Practical application is made to construct high sensitivity direct-current amplifiers. The data show a mutual conductance of 30,000 microamp. per volt.

Invasion of high voltage direct current till 2014
2014 IEEE International Conference on Control Science and Systems Engineering, 2014Electrical power system is an intricate network of transmission lines and its complexity is consistently increasing with induction of distribution generation (DG) which is nonlinear in nature. One of major problem with remotely generated electrical energy is of reliable transportation to ever increasing load center.

Direct generation of alternating current at high voltages
Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1929The authors begin by pointing out, with the help of a mechanical analogy, the true place which the alternating current transformer takes in the group of plant considered to-day to be standard for the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power on a large scale. They propose the use of high-voltage alternators and the partial abolition of
