High-Birefringence Low-Loss Hollow-Core THz Waveguide Embedded Parallel Slab Cladding

IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology, 2022
A novel high-birefringence and low-loss hollow-core (HC) antiresonant (AR) THz waveguide is proposed and experimental demonstrated. The waveguide is a circular tube embedded with two pairs of symmetrical parallel slabs.

Numerical investigation of high birefringence and nonlinearity tellurite glass photonic crystal fiber with microstructured core.

Applied Optics, 2021
In this paper, a novel photonic crystal fiber (PCF) based on tellurite glass with high birefringence and high nonlinearity is designed. Six small air holes arranged nearly rectangularly are added in the fiber core to form the near-elliptic core. By using

Study on the high birefringence and low confinement loss terahertz fiber based on the combination of double negative curvature and nested claddings

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2021
A novel double negative curvature nested fiber structure is designed by adding extra circular cladding tubes to enhance the birefringence and reduce the confinement loss.

Synthesis and properties of benzoxazole-terminated mesogenic compounds containing tolane with high birefringence and large dielectric anisotropy

Liquid crystals (Print), 2021
New benzoxazole-terminated mesogenic compounds containing tolane moiety with high birefringence and large dielectric anisotropy, namely, 2-[4-[2-[4-alkoxyphenyl]ethynyl]-2,6-difluoro-phenyl]-benzoxazole derivatives (nPEDFPBx), were synthesised and ...

High birefringence and broadband dispersion compensation photonic crystal fiber

Journal of optical communications, 2021
We propose a perfectly square lattice photonic crystal fiber (PCF) which shows high birefringence and negative dispersion. To set up high asymmetry in the core, dual line imperfection is considered where the fill fraction ratio and defect air hole ...

High Birefringent Liquid Crystals

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1995
Abstract Several liquid crystal dyes and fluorinated compounds with high birefringence are synthesized and their properties evaluated. These polar compounds are useful dopants for enhancing the dielectric anisotropy of the dialkyl diphenyl-diacetylene host.

Photonic bandgap fibers with high birefringence

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2002
A highly birefringent air-guiding photonic crystal fiber which provides guidance by a full two-dimensional photonic bandgap (PBG) effect is proposed. The fiber core is formed by introducing a large air hole that has an area of four unit cells of the cladding materials.

Precise method for modifying birefringence of stress-induced high-birefringence fiber

Optics Letters, 2010
A precise method for modifying the birefringence of stress-induced high-birefringence (Hi-Bi) fiber is demonstrated by side polishing a Panda-type fiber with a maximum polished length of at least 14 cm. The polishing depth is controlled with an accuracy of 0.1 microm by piezoelectric ceramic microdisplacement.

Photoinduced birefringence in optical fibers: a comparative study of low-birefringence and high-birefringence fibers

Optics Letters, 1992
A study of photoinduced birefringence in bow-tie (stress-induced) high-birefringence (Hi-Bi) and low-birefringence (Lo-Bi) germanosilicate optical fibers is conducted by using 532-nm light. The study reveals that Hi-Bi fibers are insensitive to light polarized along the fast axis, in contrast to Lo-Bi fibers, which are photosensitive along both axes ...
