High compression ratio image compression

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
An image compression method is proposed. It makes use of the wavelet transform (WT) with better frequency localization and the adaptive hierarchical vector quantization (AHVQ) technique. The WT provides a multifrequency channel representation for the image from which proper coding methods can be drawn.

Structural transformations in metals at high compression ratios

Physics-Uspekhi, 2009
As analysis of crystal structure stability against homogeneous deformation is carried out for simple and transition metals with body-centered cubic (bcc) and face-centered cubic (fcc) lattices under pressure. It is shown that at high compression ratios a crystal lattice can turn unstable against shear deformations, leading to new lower-symmetry ...

THUDDING in High Compression Ratio Engines

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1959
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">THUD—a noise due to high rates of pressure rise in the absence of surface ignition—is the subject of the investigations described in this paper. The tests were performed on 12/1 compression ratio engines.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">The authors found that ...

An Investigation Into OME3 on a High Compression Ratio Engine

ASME 2020 Internal Combustion Engine Division Fall Technical Conference, 2020
Abstract For decades, alternative fuels have been studied to further engine efficiency and lower combustion emissions. Of these fuels, biodiesel, alcohols, and ethers have shown advantageous benefits of improved mixing capability or reduced combustion emissions.

Improving Diagnosis Resolution and Performance at High Compression Ratios

2018 IEEE International Test Conference (ITC), 2018
Recent innovations in Test Compression are enabling implementation of very high compression ratios. This paper analyzes the impact of high compression on resolution and performance of conventional diagnosis methods. The diagnosis resolution is observed to be unaffected by increasing the compression ratio if there are sufficient failures and patterns ...

High compression ratio algorithm for power quality signals

2015 IEEE 24th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2015
This paper presents a compression algorithm for power quality (PQ) signals, which does not separate the signal into stationary and transient components. The proposed algorithm is composed of a number of different compression techniques which are combined to improve both compression ratio and total computing time.

An scalable coding strategy for high resolution snapshot compressive temporal imaging at high compression ratios

Optica Imaging Congress (3D, COSI, DH, FLatOptics, IS, pcAOP), 2023
We propose a simple yet powerful mask design for high-speed, high-pixel count compressive temporal imaging. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate a reconstruction quality of over 30dB when recovering 512 frames of 2K videos from a single snapshot.

Error-Controlled Lossy Compression Optimized for High Compression Ratios of Scientific Datasets

2018 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (Big Data), 2018
Today’s scientific simulations require a significant reduction of the data size because of extremely large volumes of data they produce and the limitation of storage bandwidth and space. If the compression is set to reach a high compression ratio, however, the reconstructed data are often distorted too much to tolerate.

A NONUNIFORM HIGH-QUALITY IMAGE COMPRESSION METHOD TO PRESERVE USER-SPECIFIED COMPRESSION RATIO

International Journal of Image and Graphics, 2011
Most of image compression methods are based on frequency domain transforms that are followed by a quantization and rounding approach to discard some coefficients. It is obvious that the quality of compressed images highly depends on the manner of discarding these coefficients.

ECG compressed sensing method with high compression ratio and dynamic model reconstruction

Measurement, 2021
Abstract This paper introduces an alternative method for compressed sensing and reconstruction of ECG that is patient agnostic and offers a high compression ratio. The high compression ratio is achieved by high decimation of the measurement signal and its post requantization, further decreasing the number of bits needed for information transfer.
