Caving‐enhanced geothermal system overwhelms fracturing‐ and pipe‐enhanced geothermal system in heat extraction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Our study reveals that caving‐enhanced geothermal systems (C‐EGS) with adequately fractured reservoirs achieve optimal heat extraction by minimizing preferential flow paths, while conventional fracturing (F‐EGS) and pipe‐based (P‐EGS) systems suffer accelerated thermal drawdown.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) images of radiographies: modern digital replacement of negatoscopes?

open access: yesEstudos de Conservação e Restauro, 2013
With this paper we are presenting a new promising approach to digitalization of radiographic image in film, using common photographic cameras as device to digitalize with different levels of exposure (allowing, in some cases, to read information from the darker/denser areas of the image) and combining those images with the new technique of High Dynamic

High dynamic range optical coherence tomography angiography (HDR-OCTA)

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2019
The dynamic range of current optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography (OCTA) images is limited by the fixed scanning intervals. High speed OCT devices introduce the possibility of extending the flow signal dynamic range. In this study, we created a novel scanning pattern for achieving high dynamic range (HDR)-OCTA with a superior scanning ...

Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte Therapy Combined With PD‐1/LAG‐3 Inhibition in Patients With Recurrent Platinum‐Resistant Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
The detection of tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) is a positive prognostic factor in ovarian cancer. Moreover, TILs are significantly boosted by immunotherapy, though ovarian cancer patients have seen limited benefit from immune therapies. This study investigated the safety and feasibility of TIL therapy combined with PD‐1 and LAG‐3 inhibitors in ...

Reduced-Dimensional Capture of High-Dynamic Range Images with Compressive Sensing

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2020
The range of light illumination in real scenes is very large, and ordinary cameras can only record a small part of this range, which is far lower than the range of human eyes’ perception of light.

High-dynamic-range fluorescence laminar optical tomography (HDR-FLOT)

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2017
Three-dimensional fluorescence laminar optical tomography (FLOT) can achieve resolutions of 100-200 µm and penetration depths of 2-3 mm. FLOT has been used in tissue engineering, neuroscience, as well as oncology. The limited dynamic range of the charge-coupled device-based system makes it difficult to image fluorescent samples with a large ...

Do Internet‐Driven Trade Shocks Moderate the Exchange Rate Pass‐Through to Inflation?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the existence of an internet globalisation intensifying impact on the size of the exchange rate pass‐through (ERPT) to inflation, which conditions the response of central banks' policy rates. Expanding on the traditional determinants of ERPT, we incorporate technology‐induced trade shocks linked to internet adoption to ...

NTECARS: A Nonthermal Equilibrium CARS Spectra Fitting Code

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
We present NTECARS, an open‐source code written in Julia for the calculation and fitting of CARS spectra under nonequilibrium conditions. Rovibrational distributions can be flexibly modeled and fitted for different use cases. The code currently implements CO2$$ \mathrm{C}{\mathrm{O}}_2 $$ and N2$$ {\mathrm{N}}_2 $$ molecules and is validated under ...
