Nickel Silicides Synthesized by High Energy Ball Milling

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
The high energy ball milling of Ni-50 atom % Si elemental powder mixtures was carried out using a planetary mill. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify the phase evolutions during the high energy ball milling period. The microstructure morphology of the powders milled different time was determined by field emission scanning electron microscope ...

Nanocrystalline metals prepared by high-energy ball milling

Metallurgical Transactions A, 1990
This is a first systematic report on the synthesis of completely nanocrystalline metals by high-energy deformation processes. Pure metals with body-centered cubic (bcc) and hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structures are subjected to ball milling, resulting in a decrease of the average grain size to ≈9 nm for metals with bcc and to ≈13 nm for metals with ...

Synthesis of magnetite nanoparticles by high energy ball milling

Applied Surface Science, 2013
Abstract We report on the preparation of magnetite nanoparticles, with size ranging from 12 nm to 20 nm, by high energy ball milling. The synthesis is made using stoichiometric amounts of distilled water and metallic iron powder. The milled powder samples were analyzed by Mossbauer spectroscopy (MS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample ...

Synthesis of Cordierite Using High Energy Ball Milling

Materials Science Forum, 2005
Cordierite was synthesized by the reaction sintering using a high-energy ball milling process. After a high-energy ball milling for 32hr, the reaction temperature of cordierite was reduced to 1350oC from the conventional synthesis temperature of 1460oC.

Decomposition and Crystallization Induced by High-Energy Ball-Milling

Solid State Phenomena, 2007
Phase transformation induced by ball-milling was studied in this work. It was found that amorphous Fe90Zr10 ribbons undergo crystallization into BCC α-Fe(Zr) under milling in an AGO-2 mill. The decomposition degree of the amorphous phase increased with increasing milling time and intensity.

High Energy Ball-milling of Hydrogen Titanate Nanotubes

2009
Properties of TiO2 nanostructures have been intensively studied because of the large potential of their possible applications in solar cells, electronics, sensing, photocatalysis as a catalyst support and as new material for mesoporous ion exchange. Titanate nanotubes are particularly interesting because of their large aspect ratio, and large specific ...

Response of Lanthanide Sesquioxides to High‐Energy Ball Milling

Advanced Engineering Materials
Sesquioxides (M2O3) exhibit rich polymorphism with distinct phases that form over broad compositional, pressure, and temperature ranges. This makes these materials an ideal model system for studying the effects of high‐energy ball milling and the far‐from‐equilibrium conditions induced by complex mechanical interactions.
