An imaging refractometer for density fluctuation measurements in high energy density plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2021
We report on a recently developed laser-probing diagnostic, which allows direct measurements of ray-deflection angles in one axis while retaining imaging capabilities in the other axis. This allows us to measure the spectrum of angular deflections from a laser beam, which passes through a turbulent high-energy-density plasma.

Model-based scaling of the streamwise energy density in high-Reynolds-number turbulent channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study the Reynolds number scaling of a gain-based, low-rank approximation to turbulent channel flows, determined by the resolvent formulation of McKeon & Sharma (2010), in order to obtain a description of the streamwise turbulence intensity from ...

Ultra-short pulse laser acceleration of protons to 80 MeV from cryogenic hydrogen jets tailored to near-critical density

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Laser plasma-based particle accelerators attract great interest in fields where conventional accelerators reach limits based on size, cost or beam parameters.

High energy density in multisoliton collisions

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2015
Solitons are very effective in transporting energy over great distances and collisions between them can produce high energy density spots of relevance to phase transformations, energy localization and defect formation among others. It is then important to study how energy density accumulation scales in multi-soliton collisions.

Correlation Energy of an Electron Gas at High Density [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review, 1957
The quantity ec is defined as the correlation energy per particle of an electron gas expressed in rydbergs. It is a function of the conventional dimensionless parameter rs, where rs-3 is proportional to the electron density. Here ec is computed for small values of rs (high density) and found to be given by ec=Alnrs+C+O(rs).

Effect of 3-mercapto-1-propane sulfonate sulfonic acid and polyvinylpyrrolidone on the growth of cobalt pillar by electrodeposition

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2022
Cobalt is a promising material for electronic interconnections in the post-Moore law period. However, the vertical cobalt pillar is not fully compatible with the current electroplating-involved manufacturing process due to hydrogen evolution at the ...

Energy loss of an energetic Ga ion in hot Au plasmas

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2016
Self-consistent calculations of energy loss for a Ga ion moving in hot Au plasmas are made under the assumption of wide ranges of the projectile energy and the plasma temperature with all important mechanisms considered in detail.

Increase of the density, temperature and velocity of plasma jets driven by a ring of high energy laser beams

open access: yes, 2013
Supersonic plasma outflows driven by multi-beam, high-energy lasers, such as Omega and NIF, have been and will be used as platforms for a variety of laboratory astrophysics experiments.

A comparative study of bridged 1,2,4-oxazolones and their derivatives

open access: yesEnergetic Materials Frontiers, 2020
For energetic compounds, a slight difference in their molecular structures can result in a tremendous difference in their properties. Compounds with similar structures but exhibiting big difference in their physicochemical properties (such as density and
