Atom clusters and vibrational excitations in chemically-disordered Pt357Fe [PDF]
Inelastic nuclear resonant scattering spectra of Fe-57 atoms were measured on crystalline alloys of Pt3Fe-57 that were chemically disordered, partially ordered, and L1(2) ordered. Phonon partial density of states curves for Fe-57 were obtained from these

Preparation of Tunable Cu−Ag Nanostructures by Electrodeposition in a Deep Eutectic Solvent
The green transition requires new, clean, inexpensive, and sustainable strategies to prepare controllable bimetallic and multimetallic nanostructures. Cu−Ag nanostructures, for example, are promising bimetallic catalysts for different electrocatalytic ...

ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Progress in High-Entropy Alloys [PDF]
Strictly speaking, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) refer to single-phase, solid-solution alloys with multiprincipal elements in an equal or a near-equal molar ratio whose configurational entropy is tremendously high. This special topic was organized to reflect the focus and diversity of HEA research topics in the community.

Vibrational entropy of L12 Cu3Au measured by inelastic neutron scattering [PDF]
The phonon density of states of elemental Au, Cu, and Cu3Au with L12 chemical order were measured by inelastic neutron scattering and used to calculate the vibrational entropy of formation of the ordered compound from the elemental metals.

Eutectic high-entropy alloys (EHEAs) have attracted considerable interest due to their superior multifunctional performance. However, the inherent tendency of stress concentration at irregular phase boundaries frequently leads to premature fracture. This

Effect of Cr content on corrosion behavior of CrMnFeNi high entropy alloys
The effect of Cr content on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of CrxMnFeNi(x=0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.5) high entropy alloys was studied by using XRD, SEM/EDS, EBSD and electrochemical testing.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
