Development of High Power Microwave Compressors
2007 IEEE 34th International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS), 2007Summary form only given. The report presents parameters and designs of high power microwave compressors in different frequency bands. Their resonant cavities operated with electric field strength values close to critical ones which allowed par ex. to reach the output pulse power 1.6 MW in Q-band and 1 GW in S-band. The study of gaseous switch operation

A High Power Attenuator for Microwaves
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1949A high power variable attenuator has been developed for use in 10-cm wave guide transmission lines. The attenuating material is a liquid which serves also to transfer the absorbed energy. The attenuator can handle power levels up to 100 watts, has a power standing wave ratio less than 1.1 to 1, and an attenuation which is variable from 1.5 db to 40 db.

In order to obtain filters capable of handling very high power, the use of radial lines and uniform line discontinuities was investigated as the most promising approach. In this connection, it was necessary to consider equivalent circuit and interaction effects for H-mode radial line mated at each end to uniform TE 10 waveguide for taper angles of 45 ...

Space Applications of High-Power Microwaves
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2007Schemes have been suggested for transferring energy from Earth-to-space, space-to-Earth, and space-to-space using high-power microwave (HPM) beams. All use power beaming. Microwave beams have been studied for propelling spacecraft for launch to orbit, orbit raising, launch from orbit into interplanetary and interstellar space, and deployment of large ...

Applications Of High Power microwaves
IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 1992 IEEE International Conference on Plasma, 1992We address a number of applications for HPM technology. There is a strong symbiotic relationship between a developing technology and its emerging applications. New technologies can generate new applications. Conversely, applications can demand development of new technological capability. High-power microwave generating systems come with size and weight

High Power Microwave Transistors
IETE Technical Review, 1986The characteristics and limitations of high power microwave transistors are discussed. The importance of the major parameters such as collector epilayer thickness and resistivity, base width, base-spreading resistance, contact resistances, collector-base feedback capacitance and emitter area, in determining current gain-bandwidth product (ft) and ...

Detection of high power microwaves
2011The growing threat to critical infrastructure by high power microwaves (HPM) also increases the importance of detection facilities for electromagnetic fields with high field strength. We discuss HPM detection principles as well as capabilities and limitations of existing HPM detectors.
