New Die Design for High-Pressure Torsion
Materials Science Forum, 2022A special design of the die was developed, which allows to implement the process of severe plastic deformation by high pressure torsion to deform ring blanks, which will be the starting material for creating high-strength piston rings. A special feature of the die design is the provision of torsion of the deforming tool with constant rectilinear ...

Finite Element Analysis of High Pressure Torsion
steel research international, 2013High pressure torsion (HPT) is an important process for producing ultrafine grained materials, and while numerous experimental investigations of HPT have been carried out, most concentrated on microstructure, texture, or the mechanical properties of the processed materials, while few work has been carried out by using FEM because of extreme mesh ...

High Pressure Torsion of Rail Steels
Materials Science Forum, 2006To study the influence of shear deformation on the evolution of the microstructure and the mechanical strength in rail steels, three steels with different microstructure (two pearlitic, one bainitic) were deformed by High Pressure Torsion (HPT). In order to evaluate in addition the effect of the strain path, a cyclic form of HPT was applied.

The equivalent strain in high pressure torsion
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2014Abstract The results of experiments carried out by means of high pressure torsion (HPT) are frequently described in terms of the Eichinger “equivalent” strain. When employed in conjunction with equivalent stresses derived using von Mises in conjunction with the Fields and Backofen analysis, the values of the work done/unit volume associated with the ...

Electromechanical high-pressure torsion apparatus
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1977An apparatus for carrying out torsional shear tests of polymers under hydrostatic pressure environment at variable rotational speeds has been developed and tested. The apparatus is capable of containing pressures up to 7 kilobars and producing rotational speeds to 1000 rpm.

Microstructures of Nickel Deformed by High Pressure Torsion to High Strains
Materials Science Forum, 2003Microstructures of nickel deformed by the HPT up to strains of 12.0 have been examined by mean of transmission electron microscopy. Observations have been carried out in the longitudinal section for a proper demonstration of the structure morphology.

High pressure torsion of intermetallic Zr3Al
Materials Science Forum, 2008The L12-structured intermetallic compound Zr3Al can be rendered amorphous easily by several techniques. In the present study the structural evolution during high pressure torsion (HPT) was investigated systematically by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods.

Texture evolution of Mg during high-pressure torsion
Journal of Materials Science, 2008Polycrystalline magnesium of 99.8 wt.% purity was subjected to high-pressure torsion (HPT) at room temperature. A special technique was developed in order to enable HPT of Mg up to very high shear strains of 115 and hydrostatic pressures of 4 GPa. The texture development during HPT was investigated by systematic X-ray texture measurements.

2016
This chapter starts with a brief description of the technique and how to calculate the strain induced by high-pressure torsion (HPT). Thereafter, the effect of HPT on different classes of metal hydrides is discussed.

Fabrication of nanograined silicon by high-pressure torsion
Journal of Materials Science, 2014This paper describes fabrication of Si nanograins through allotropic phase transformation by concurrent application of high pressure and intense straining using high-pressure torsion (HPT). Single-crystalline Si(100) wafers were processed by HPT under a pressure of 24 GPa at room temperature.
