Simulation of The Effects of Valve Timing Misalignment on Performance in Spark Ignition Engines

open access: yesEngineering Perspective
Engine performance can be improved by changing the valve opening (or closing) timing without any cam profile changes. In this study, a simple simulation model was created for valve timing misalignment, which is an assembly defect in the engine.

Investigation of humping defect formation in a lap joint at a high-speed hybrid laser-GMA welding

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
Productivity rise can be realized at high-speed welding, but in a practice, the constraints emanate from the tolerance welding speed limit beyond which generate humping defects and the likes. These defects are undesirable in welding as they undermined the weld bead integrity and decrease productivity.

Evaluating Performance of Friction Stir Lap Welds Made at Ultra-High Speeds

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
Friction stir lap welding has been utilized across research and industry for over a decade. However, difficulties in welding in the lap configuration without an interface-related defect have prevented the process from moving beyond low feed rates (generally less than 1.5 m per minute).

A Study on the Characteristic of Weld Joint and Tensile Fracture of SUS304 and Cu High-Speed Dissimilar Lap Welds by Single Mode Fiber Laser

open access: yesJournal of Welding and Joining, 2014
To develop and understand dissimilar metals joining of Stainless steel and Copper, ultra-high speed laser lap welding was studied using single mode fiber laser in this study. SUS304 and Cu have large differences in materials properties, and Cu and Fe have no intermetallic compounds by typical binary phase of Cu and Fe system.
