Thermal and Dynamo Evolution of the Lunar Core Based on the Transport Properties of Fe‐S‐P Alloys

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Paleomagnetic analyses have suggested that the lunar magnetic field underwent a significant change from 4.25 to 3.19 Ga, indicating the rapid transition of the lunar dynamo mechanism.

Turbulent flame development in a high-pressure combustion vessel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The objective of this work was to extend the range of turbulent burning velocities presented in the literature by performing new measurements at elevated pressures over a range of turbulent velocities, u' (r. m. s. deviation from the mean velocity).

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Calculation of self-diffusion coefficients in iron

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
On the basis of available P-V-T equation of state of iron, the temperature and pressure dependence of self-diffusion coefficients in iron polymorphs (α, δ, γ and ɛ phases) have been successfully reproduced in terms of the bulk elastic and expansivity ...

High Pressure Cyanide Exchange Study on Square-planar Tetracyanometalate Complex of Pt(II) [PDF]

open access: yes
Previous studies of cyanide exchange on square planar tetracyanoplatinate complex [Pt(CN)4]2- have been undertaken only at a high pH. For a more complete fundamental understanding of this system we extended the investigations of these exchanges over a ...

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

First‐principles prediction of fast migration channels of potassium ions in KAlSi3O8 hollandite: Implications for high conductivity anomalies in subduction zones

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
Materials sharing the hollandite structure were widely reported as fast ionic conductors. However, the ionic conductivity of KAlSi3O8 hollandite (K‐hollandite), which can be formed during the subduction process, has not been investigated so far.

Fundamentals of Electrostatic Precipitation at High Temperatures and High Pressures

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 1994
If exhaust gases are to be cleaned from particulate matter at high flow rates and, simultaneously, at low pressure drops, an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is a suitable device. ESPs are widely used for removal of fly-ash in coal fired power plants commonly operating at moderate temperatures up to about 200°C and ambient pressure.

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Thermodynamic estimation the compressibility of ferropericlase under high pressure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
The elastic properties of (Mg1-xFex)O ferropericlase are essential to analyze seismic data and to constrain its chemical composition in the lower mantle.
