Photoluminescence properties of -Ca3(PO4)2:Sm3+ prepared under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
??-Ca3(PO4)2:Sm3+ samples were synthesized under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction measurements.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

High-pressure induced polymerization of C60 nanorods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
C60 nanorods, about 200 nm in diameter and several micrometers in length and with a rectangular cross section, have been synthesized by a simple solution-growth method.

High-Pressure and High-Temperature Synthesis of Anion-Disordered Vanadium Perovskite Oxyhydrides [PDF]

open access: yes
Crystallographic order–disorder phenomena in solid state compounds are of fundamental interest due to intimate relationship between the structure and properties. Here, by using high-pressure and high-temperature synthesis, we obtained vanadium perovskite

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Effect of high hydrostatic pressure on the profile of proteins extracted from Betula pendula pollens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) has high success potential in pollen protein extraction, but its effect on pollen protein profiles has not been studied yet.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Impact of hydrogen on the high cycle fatigue behaviour of Inconel 718 in asymmetric push–pull mode at room temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The influence of hydrogen on the high cycle fatigue (HCF) behaviour of Inconel 718 has been studied at room temperature in asymmetric push–pull mode using an ultrasonic HCF test rig. Fatigue tests have been carried out in gaseous hydrogen (GH2) and in Ar

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

High temperature elastic anisotropy of the perovskite and post-perovskite polymorphs of Al2O3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Finite temperature ab initio molecular dynamics calculations were performed to determine the high temperature elastic and seismic properties of the perovskite and post-perovskite phases of pure end-member Al2O3.
