Thermodynamic Properties of MgAl2O4 Spinel at High Temperatures and High Pressures
Thermodynamic properties of MgAl2O4 spinel are significant in understanding the phase relations of the Earth’s crust and upper mantle, but available values from experimental measurements are limited at ambient pressure conditions to date.

Degradation modes and tool wear mechanisms in finish and rough machining of Ti17 Titanium alloy under high-pressure water jet assistance [PDF]
This article presents the results of an experimental study on the Ti17 titanium alloy, which was carried out to analyze tool wear and the degradation mechanisms of an uncoated tungsten carbide tool insert. Two machining conditions, roughing and finishing,

Effects of Al Content on the Corrosion Behaviors of Low Cr Bearing Steels in NaCl Solutions
The effects of Al content on the corrosion behaviors of aluminum-bearing steels were studied in NaCl solutions. Electrochemical measurements and Raman and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) surface analyses revealed that the aluminum-bearing steel formed

High-Pressure Phase Transition of the Oxonitridosilicate Chloride Ce4[Si4O3+xN7-x]Cl1-xOx with x = 0.12 and 0.18 [PDF]
The high-pressure behaviour of the oxonitridosilicate chlorides Ce4[Si4O3þxN7-x]Cl1-xOx, x = 0.12 and 0.18, is investigated by in situ powder synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Pressures up to 28 GPa are generated using the diamond-anvil cell technique.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
