Kinetics of oxide scale growth on a (Ti, Mo)5Si3 based oxidation resistant Mo-Ti-Si alloy at 900-1300∘C

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2019
High-temperature oxidation behaviour of Mo-40Ti-30Si (at.%) alloy was investigated in the temperature regime of 900-1300∘C in air. Isothermal weight change data recorded up to 100 h of exposure revealed parabolic weight gain kinetics at all the tested ...

High temperature corrosion of laser additively manufactured CoNiCrAlY

open access: yesCorrosion Communications, 2022
A Co32Ni21Cr8Al0.5Y alloy (by mass percentage) has been additively manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM). The as-deposited alloy has a γ matrix dispersing Al-rich β phase which is coarsened with time at high temperatures. The alloy grows a double-

The effect of σ-phase precipitation at 800°C on the corrosion resistance in sea-water of a high alloyed duplex stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Super-duplex stainless steels are recently developed high alloyed stainless steels that combine good mechanical properties with excellent corrosion resistance.

Accelerating corrosion in a laboratory set-up for corrosion-fatigue of offshore steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Corrosion-fatigue is a dangerous failure mechanism that is not yet fully understood. Structures subjected to corrosion-fatigue are over conservative in design, which is economically unfavourable.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Novel Method for Determining Standard Enthalpy and Entropy of Volatilisation of Chromia Exposed to Humidified Oxygen at 298 K Based on Transport Theory of Multicomponent Gas Mixtures

open access: yesEntropy
Based on the transport theory of multicomponent gas mixtures, we proposed an expression for determining the standard volatilisation enthalpy and entropy of chromia exposed to humidified oxygen at 298 K.

High temperature corrosion issues in energy-related systems

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2004
The large majority of electric power that is generated world-wide involves heat engines of one kind or another. The significant exceptions are hydroelectric generation; wind; and photovoltaics.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.
