Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

An Experimental and Statistical Study on Rebar Corrosion Considering the Temperature Effect Using Gaussian Process Regression

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Temperature is an important factor that affects corrosion potential in rebars. The temperature effect must be removed from the corrosion potential for precise measurement of corrosion rates. To separate the temperature effect from the corrosion potential,

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Subsurface microstructural changes in a cast heat resisting alloy caused by high temperature corrosion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A cast HP ModNb alloy (Fe–25Cr–35Ni–1Nb, wt.%) was oxidised and carburised in CO–CO2 corresponding to aC = 0.1 and pO2 = 3 1016 atm at 1080 C. Formation of an external, chromium-rich oxide scale led to depletion of this metal in a deep alloy subsurface ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Microstructure and high-temperature oxidation behaviour of AISI 304L stainless steel welds produced by gas tungsten arc welding using the Ar–N2–H2 shielding gas

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes
In the present work, we added 1.5 and 5% v/v hydrogen gas to an Ar–7% N2 shielding gas for the gas tungsten arc welding of AISI 304L stainless steel to investigate its effect on the weld microstructure and oxidation rate. By using Ar–7% N2 as a shielding

Preparation of perfluoropolyether prepolymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Fluorinated prepolymers are used to generate highly fluorinated polymers which possess most of the desirable properties of polytetrafluoroethylene, such as nonflammability and high corrosion resistance, while retaining good low temperature ...
