Assessing the Potential of Heat Pumps to Reduce the Radiator Size on Small Satellites

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Future small satellites will demand high-performance on-board electronics, requiring sophisticated approaches to heat rejection beyond simply increasing the radiator surface area. An interesting alternative approach is to increase the surface temperature

Influence of temperatures of a low-potential source and heat consumer on the efficiency of a heat pump

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2019
The article describes the experimental setup for testing a heat pump and the results of its operation at various temperatures at its inlet and outlet. An actually task is to study the operation of a heat pump under various boundary conditions, which are ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Operator manual: high temperature heat pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Experimental data is being obtained from operating a high temperature heat pump system. The use of methanol as a working fluid will necessitate careful monitoring of refrigerant temperatures and pressures with chemical analysis performed on the working fluid during scheduled down time.

Improved district heating network operation by the integration of high-temperature heat pumps [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy, 2017
Biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plants connected to district heating networks are a very good opportunity to increase the share of renewable sources into energy systems. Frequently, important consumers are connected to ensure a stable base heat demand throughout the year but they often have higher requirements in terms of temperature (i.e. steam),

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Analysis of the Influence Factors of the Crude Oil Temperature Maintenance System of Solar Sewage Heat Pumps in Cold Regions

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Traditional crude oil heating methods that use fossil fuels or electricity have the disadvantages of high consumption of nonrenewable resources, low energy utilization, and high carbon emissions.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Performance and Economic Analysis of Two Types of High-Temperature Heat Pump Based on New Refrigerants

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper proposes, for the first time, the research concept of comparing energy and economy between transcritical cycle high-temperature heat pumps and subcritical cycle high-temperature heat pumps with new refrigerants. Experiments and simulations are
