Comparative Analysis of High Torque Density PM Machines

2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018
High torque density PM machines have attracted more and more attention recently, especially for the low-speed, high-torque application. In this paper, three high torque density PM machines are analyzed and compared, namely 12-slot/10-pole SPM, 16-pole transverse flux PM and 12-slot/22-pole flux modulation PM machines, with the specification of 30 kNm ...

High Torque Density Torque Motor With Hybrid Magnetization Pole Arrays for Jet Pipe Servo Valve

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2020
Torque motor is one key component that directly influences the dynamic performance of jet pipe servo valve in aircraft. In this paper, a novel torque motor with hybrid-magnetization pole arrays is proposed. By changing the magnetization patterns of permanent magnets, the torque motor can significantly improve the output torque by range of 47–52 ...

High Torque Density Propulsion Motors

Naval Engineers Journal, 2005
The size and weight of electric drive components are primary considerations in their successful integration into various Naval platforms. Direct drive propulsion motors are of particular importance due to their requirement of developing full power at low shaft speed.

Development of a compact wrist mechanism with high torque density

2012 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2012
This paper proposes a new wrist mechanism for robot manipulation. To develop multi-dof wrist mechanisms that can emulate human wrists, compactness and high torque density are the major challenges. Traditional wrist mechanisms consist of series of rotary motors that require gearing to amplify the output torque.

Magnetic-geared motors with high transmission torque density

COMPEL: The International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2015
Purpose – Early magnetic-geared motors have a high transmission torque density. However, the torque due to the coil is low because the permanent magnets in the stator become a large magnetic resistance when the current is applied to the coil.

High torque density PM motor for racing applications

2017 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2017
Referring to a 4-wheel drive Formula Student Electric vehicle, a fractional-slot synchronous permanent magnet machine has been designed. Torque density has been improved adopting outer rotor topology and lightweight materials. An ironless rotor with PMs placed in an Halbach array configuration allows reduced rotor inertia to be obtained.

High Power/Torque-Density Devices

2020
Mechanical power transmission and handling devices are evaluated according to their power density, or else their torque density if it is not the power that is the issue of primary concern. The combination of high power or torque density with good energy efficiency may collectively be termed high-performance density.

High-Precision Permaent Magent Motor Design for Satellite Attitude Control with High Torque Density and Low Torque Ripple

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
This paper proposes a high-precision permanent magnet (PM) motor primary used for the small satellite attitude control. A radial-flux type motor is designed to achieve the high demanded smooth torque production for satellite applications. On the basis, a slotless stator is used to improve flux harmonics by removing the stator steel component.

An improved torque density Modulated Pole Machine for low speed high torque applications

6th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2012), 2012
This paper presents a new topology for three-phase Modulated Pole Machines. This new topology the “Combined Phase Modulated Pole Machine” is analysed and compared to the more traditional technology of three separate single phase units stacked axially with a separation between phases.

Ultralow-current density spin-torque diodes with high sensitivity

Applied Physics Letters, 2023
Spin-torque diodes (STDs) offer the possibility of using spin torque to generate rectification voltage with promising applications in microwave detecting, energy harvesting, and neuromorphic computing. Here, we demonstrate a highly sensitive STD with ultralow current density based on a magnetic tunnel junction with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. At
