Smooth extremal horizons are the exception, not the rule

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We show that the general charged, rotating black hole in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory has a singular extremal limit. Only the known analytic solutions with exactly zero charge or zero angular momenta have smooth extremal horizons.

Direct derivation of N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 supergravity in ten dimensions to all orders in fermions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
It has been known for some time that generalised geometry provides a particularly elegant rewriting of the action and symmetries of 10-dimensional supergravity theories, up to the lowest nontrivial order in fermions.

New asymptotically (anti)-de Sitter black holes in (super)gravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We use the duality between gravitational dynamics and fluids living on dynamical surfaces carrying multiple charges, known as the blackfold approach, to perturbatively construct new asymptotically global (Anti)-de Sitter multi-spinning, non-extremal ...
