An analytical solution, based on a higher order shear and normal deformation theory, is presented for the cylindrical flexure of piezoelectric plates. The primary displacement terms are expanded in thickness coordinate and an exact nature of electric potential is obtained in actuator and sensing layers.

Bending of a bimodulus laminated plate based on a higher-order shear deformation theory
Composite Structures, 1988Abstract This paper presents an exact flexural analysis of rectangular simply supported single-layer and two-layer cross-ply plates of bimodulus materials. The governing equations of a bimodulus plate based on a higherorder shear deformation theory are simplified from the composite plate.

An improved higher-order theory is developed for the stress analysis of laminated transversely isotropic plates and shells subject to transverse shear deformation and normal compression. The theory is capable of analyzing the stress-strain behavior of layered plates and shells with an arbitrary number and sequence of layers which may differ ...
