Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Disagreement, Indirect Defeat, and Higher-Order Evidence [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2020
Some philosophers question whether higher-order evidence can support the radical skeptical conclusions that others take it to generate. Since disagreement is usually classified as being a type of higher-order evidence, these worries have in turn also ...

Type−Directed Weaving of Aspects for Higher−order Functional Languages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) has been shown to be a useful model for software development. Special care must be taken when we try to adapt AOP to strongly typed functional languages which come with features like a type inference mechanism ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

A Seventh-Order Scheme for Computing the Generalized Drazin Inverse

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
One of the most important generalized inverses is the Drazin inverse, which is defined for square matrices having an index. The objective of this work is to investigate and present a computational tool in the form of an iterative method for computing ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Fast Derivative-Free Iteration Scheme for Nonlinear Systems and Integral Equations

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
Derivative-free schemes are a class of competitive methods since they are one remedy in cases at which the computation of the Jacobian or higher order derivatives of multi-dimensional functions is difficult.

Higher-Order Intentionality and Higher-Order Acquaintance [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Studies, 2006
I argue against such “Higher-Order Intentionalist” theories of consciousness as the higher-order thought and inner sense views on the ground that they understand a subject’s awareness of his or her phenomenal characters to be intentional, like seeming-seeing, rather than “direct”, like seeing.
