Bayesian Mixture Labeling by Highest Posterior Density [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Statistical Association, 2009
A fundamental problem for Bayesian mixture model analysis is label switching, which occurs as a result of the nonidentifiability of the mixture components under symmetric priors. We propose two labeling methods to solve this problem. The first method, denoted by PM(ALG), is based on the posterior modes and an ascending algorithm generically denoted ALG.

On Perturbed Ellipsoidal and Highest Posterior Density Regions with Approximate Frequentist Validity

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1995
SUMMARY This paper considers, in the multiparameter case, perturbed ellipsoidal and highest posterior density regions with both Bayesian and frequentist validity up to o(n  −1).

Evaluation of Cortical Thicknesses and Bone Density Values of Mandibular Canal Borders and Coronal Site of Alveolar Crest

open access: yeseJournal of Oral Maxillofacial Research, 2023
Objectives: The objectives of this retrospective study are to measure the amount of the alveolar crest cortication and cortication around the mandibular canal, and to evaluate bone density values of alveolar crest, cortication around mandibular canal ...

Bayesian Inference in Extremes Using the Four-Parameter Kappa Distribution

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) of the four-parameter kappa distribution (K4D) is known to be occasionally unstable for small sample sizes and to be very sensitive to outliers.

A Zero-and-One Inflated Cosine Geometric Distribution and Its Application

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Count data containing both excess zeros and ones occur in many fields, and the zero-and-one inflated distribution is suitable for analyzing them. Herein, we construct confidence intervals (CIs) for the parameters of the zero-and-one inflated cosine ...

Estimation of the Generalized Logarithmic Transformation Exponential Distribution under Progressively Type-II Censored Data with Application to the COVID-19 Mortality Rates

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
In this paper, classical and Bayesian estimation for the parameters and the reliability function for the generalized logarithmic transformation exponential (GLTE) distribution has been proposed when the life-times are progressively censored.

Relationship between Cortical Bone Thickness and Cancellous Bone Density at Dental Implant Sites in the Jawbone

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2020
Dental implant surgery is a common treatment for missing teeth. Its survival rate is considerably affected by host bone quality and quantity, which is often assessed prior to surgery through dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Studies on properties and estimation problems for modified extension of exponential distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The present paper considers modified extension of the exponential distribution with three parameters. We study the main properties of this new distribution, with special emphasis on its median, mode and moments function and some characteristics related ...
