The Loudest Event Statistic: General Formulation, Properties and Applications

open access: yes, 2007
The use of the loudest observed event to generate statistical statements about rate and strength has become standard in searches for gravitational waves from compact binaries and pulsars.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Inference for Dependent Competing Risks with Partially Observed Causes from Bivariate Inverted Exponentiated Pareto Distribution Under Generalized Progressive Hybrid Censoring

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, inference under dependent competing risk data is considered with multiple causes of failure. We discuss both classical and Bayesian methods for estimating model parameters under the assumption that data are observed under generalized ...

A Multi-Scan Labeled Random Finite Set Model for Multi-object State Estimation

open access: yes, 2018
State space models in which the system state is a finite set--called the multi-object state--have generated considerable interest in recent years. Smoothing for state space models provides better estimation performance than filtering by using the full ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Estimation and Bayesian Prediction of the Generalized Pareto Distribution in the Context of a Progressive Type-II Censoring Scheme

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The generalized Pareto distribution plays a significant role in reliability research. This study concentrates on the statistical inference of the generalized Pareto distribution utilizing progressively Type-II censored data.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Bayesian inference for the Rayleigh distribution using ordered extreme k-records ranked set sampling with random sample sizes

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
This study presents an enhanced framework for statistical inference and prediction of the Rayleigh distribution using ordered extreme k-records ranked set sampling with both fixed and random sample sizes.

Statistical Issues in Astrophysical Searches for Particle Dark Matter

open access: yes, 2014
In this review statistical issues appearing in astrophysical searches for particle dark matter, i.e. indirect detection (dark matter annihilating into standard model particles) or direct detection (dark matter particles scattering in deep underground ...
