Highly Reliable Flexible Active Optical Links
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2010We present a process to embed commercially available optical material layers into a flexible foil. Patterning of the embedded layers results in highly transparent low loss flexible waveguides. Bending of the foil down to a bending radius of 5 mm causes no additional optical propagation losses.

Management of synchronized network activity by highly active neurons
Physical Biology, 2008Increasing evidence supports the idea that spontaneous brain activity may have an important functional role. Cultured neuronal networks provide a suitable model system to search for the mechanisms by which neuronal spontaneous activity is maintained and regulated.
