Analysis of Support Reaction Curves considering Time-Varying Effect of Shotcrete

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The core content of the convergence constraint method is to determine the reasonable support time and support stiffness. The stiffness of shotcrete in supporting structure is dynamic.

Nonlinear earthquake behaviour of highway tunnels [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2011
Abstract. This paper describes the Arhavi Highway Tunnel which has two tubes, its geometrical properties, finite element model, and the nonlinear earthquake behaviour under a huge ground motion considering soil-structure interaction. The Arhavi Highway Tunnel is one of the tallest tunnels constructed in the Black Sea region of Turkey as part of the ...

Social Equity Practices in Public Financial Management: A Conceptual Review and Proposed Reforms

open access: yesPublic Administration, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Equity has been at the core of public finance going at least as far back as 1776 when Adam Smith included it as one of four canons of a good tax in his classic An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (Tax Project Institute 2025).

Refinancing Federal Loans to Support Transportation Infrastructure: Lessons From the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPublic Budgeting &Finance, EarlyView.
Abstract The COVID‐19 pandemic exposed critical vulnerabilities in U.S. transportation infrastructure, resulting in widespread project delays, suspensions, and cancellations. In response, borrowers turned to refinancing to mitigate revenue shortfalls and benefit from historically low interest rates. This paper analyzes the surge in refinancing activity

Thermotolerance thresholds of the photosystem II increase with elevation in conifer species in the Spanish Pyrenees

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
In vitro‐tested photosystem II thermotolerance of seven temperate conifers indicated higher thermal thresholds in species growing in high elevations compared to those in the lowlands. Higher thermotolerance might be explained by the adaptation of species in higher elevations to extreme diurnal temperature fluctuations.

CO2 and N2O Emissions From Vehicles in Seoul Megacity, South Korea: Insights From Mixing Ratio and Stable Isotope Ratios

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 18, 30 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Vehicular traffic is a major source of anthropogenic greenhouse gases in megacities; however, real‐world constraints on vehicle‐derived N2O emissions and their isotopic characteristics remain limited. Methods Air samples were collected from three tunnels and urban background sites (a university campus and mountain) in Seoul, South ...

Perfecting Exit: The Politics of Quitting Among Migrant Care Workers in the United States

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 128, Issue 3, Page 548-557, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Quitting tends to be overlooked in studies of resistance and labor because of its individual and private character, its ineffectiveness in changing conditions of labor, and the difficulty of studying it, in favor of more organized and public protests and strikes.
