Treatment of tarsal joint deformities with hinged transarticular external fixators in three young birds

open access: yes, 2010
Pelvic limb deformities are common in many avian species. Three young birds, including a six-week-old Cockatoo and two three-month-old goslings, were presented with tarsal joint deformities.

Axial external fixator in humerus shaft fractures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The causes of humeral shaft fractures are mostly high-energy traumas such as falling, hitting, traffic accident, and gunshot wounds. It may also occur as a result of simple falls due to osteoporosis in elderly patients.

A single-surgeon experience with the internal joint stabilizer of the elbow across 56 cases

open access: yesJSES International
Background: Recurrent instability continues to plague outcomes of elbow trauma. Adjuvant stabilization—whether internal or external—is intended to acutely stabilize the elbow and off-load the repair construct(s) during early mobilization.

Pediatric Chronic Monteggia Fractures: Insights From a Comprehensive Review

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, Volume 3, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Monteggia fractures represent relatively infrequent injuries in the pediatric population, accounting for approximately 2% of all forearm fractures. However, the rate of missed diagnoses ranges from 30% to 50%, leading to the development of chronic Monteggia fractures in children.

Comparing internal and external stabilization for traumatic elbow instability: a systematic review

open access: yesJSES Reviews, Reports, and Techniques
Background: Despite surgical reestablishment of the supporting structures, instability may often persist in traumatic elbow injury. In these cases, a temporary internal or external fixator may be indicated to unload the repaired structures and maintain ...

Medial Open‐Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy for Double Varus Deformity and an Increased Tibial Slope

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 14, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The goal of the modified medial open‐wedge high tibial osteotomy is the combined correction of a double varus deformity (mechanical medial proximal tibia angle <84°, joint line convergence angle >2°) and an increased posterior tibial slope >12°.

PIEZO1‐GPX4 Axis Mediates Mechanical Stress‐Induced Vertebral Growth Plate Dysplasia via Ferroptosis Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 39, October 20, 2025.
Mechanical stress activates PIEZO1 in vertebral growth plate chondrocytes, triggering ferroptosis through direct binding and inhibition of GPX4. This axis promotes lipid peroxidation and pathological ossification, accelerating spinal deformities. Clinical and genetic evidence (Piezo1‐cKO) confirms its role in scoliosis progression.

New algorithm for management of multiligament knee injuries: A tertiary level trauma center experience

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 3, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose Multiligament knee injuries (MLKIs) are severe orthopedic traumas frequently associated with concomitant structural damage, often leading to significant long‐term morbidity. This study aimed to evaluate the rate of return to work (RTW) following the management of MLKIs using a standardized treatment algorithm.

The Internal Joint Stabilizer of the Elbow: A Systematic Review of the Clinical and Biomechanical Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Hand Surgery Global Online
Purpose: The goal of surgical management for unstable elbow injuries is the restoration of joint concentricity and stability. After internal fixation, concerns may exist regarding instability or durability of the fixation construct.

Meniscal forces and knee kinematics are affected by tibial slope modifying high tibial osteotomy

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 33, Issue 7, Page 2345-2355, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose To quantify the effect of increasing the posterior tibial slope (PTS) on knee kinematics and the resultant medial and lateral meniscal forces. Methods In this controlled laboratory study, a 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) robotic testing system was used to apply external loading conditions to seven fresh‐frozen human cadaveric knees: (1 ...
