Bone Radiomics Score Derived From DXA Hip Images Enhances Hip Fracture Prediction in Older Women

open access: yes, 2021
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA)-based bone mineral density testing is standard to diagnose osteoporosis to detect individuals at high risk of fracture.

Single‐Cell Dissection of Therapy‐Induced Remodeling Uncovers a Fibroblast‐Driven Immunosuppressive Niche and Targetable Vulnerabilities in Lethal Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell longitudinal profiling reveals that androgen‐deprivation therapy induces a DPT+ fibroblast‐complement axis that suppresses macrophage inflammation and drives CD8+ T cell exhaustion in prostate cancer. Concurrently, resistant epithelial subpopulations persist and engage TSPAN1‐ and NRXN1‐mediated programs promoting CRPC and neuroendocrine ...

Probabilistic finite element analysis of the uncemented total hip replacement

open access: yes, 2009
There are many interacting factors affecting the performance of a total hip replacement(THR), such as prosthesis design and material properties, applied loads, surgical approach, femur size and quality, interface conditions etc.

Copy number variation in CNP267 region may be associated with hip bone size. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Osteoporotic hip fracture (HF) is a serious global public health problem associated with high morbidity and mortality. Hip bone size (BS) has been identified as one of key measurable risk factors for HF, independent of bone mineral density (BMD).

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Tribocorrosion of total hip replacements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The performance of metal-on-metal total hip replacements is largely determined by their propensity to degrade in vivo. Degradation occurs through the complex interactions between wear and corrosion (termed tribocorrosion) and leads to the production of ...

Arthroscopy-assisted treatment of giant cell tumor of the proximal femur: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery
Giant cell tumor of bone (GCT) is a borderline primary bone tumor characterized by locally aggressive behavior, for which surgical management is the mainstay of treatment. Reports on GCT involving the proximal femur remain relatively limited.

Total hip arthroplasty after rotational acetabular osteotomy for developmental dysplasia of the hip: a retrospective observational study

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2022
Background Total hip arthroplasty after osteotomy is more technically challenging than primary total hip arthroplasty, especially concerning cup placement.

Ultra‐Radiostable Covalent Conformationally Interlocked Networks Enabling a Universal Radiometal‐Labeling Platform for Cancer Radioembolization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conjugated poly(imide dioxime)‐based microspheres establish a radiometal coordination‐driven conformational interlocked network with ultra‐high radiostability. This platform enables low‐temperature, multi‐radionuclide labeling for SPECT/PET/MRI imaging and radionuclide therapy. Mechanistic insights from EXAFS and DFT reveal enhanced stability, while in

Reproduction of fretting wear at the stem—cement interface in total hip replacement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The stem-cement interface experiences fretting wear in vivo due to low-amplitude oscillatory micromotion under physiological loading, as a consequence it is considered to play an important part in the overall wear of cemented total hip replacement ...
