Reducing unintended valgus deformity after supracondylar femoral derotational osteotomy: Influence of derotation amount and osteotomy method based on femoral antecurvature

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The purposes of this study were threefold: (1) to evaluate the influence of femoral antecurvature on coronal alignment changes following supracondylar femoral derotational osteotomy (FDO); (2) to investigate the combined effects of derotation angle and osteotomy orientation in relation to femoral antecurvature and (3) to propose a ...

Five‐year implant survival does not differ between hybrid and cementless total knee arthroplasty in a cohort of 5361 patients using a deep‐dish mobile bearing design

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study compared total knee arthroplasty (TKA) outcomes between cementless and hybrid fixation, with separate analysis of tibial and femoral cementation. The primary hypothesis was that equivalence would exist in implant survivorship between cementless and hybrid fixation techniques.

Novel Antioxidant and Antibacterial Injectable Hydrogels Incorporating Clove Oil‐Loaded Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Promising Strategy for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
A novel injectable hydrogel composed of alginate–gelatin–xanthan gum incorporating clove oil (CLV)‐loaded mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles is developed. The system demonstrates enhanced antioxidant and antibacterial activity, increased Young's modulus, and good injectability.

Ethnic and Gender Disparities in Access to Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery for Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) in appropriately selected patients. DBS may be underused in certain patient populations, especially women and racialized groups. Barriers and biases to receiving DBS that could account for underuse among these groups are not well studied in Canada.
