Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2000
The adult hip is a new and challenging site for evaluation with ultrasound (US). Clinically, diseases involving the hip region may be difficult to diagnose without the help of imaging. The hip region is a crossroad for numerous vascular, nervous, and muscular structures that pass between the trunk and the lower extremity.

Pearls and Pitfalls of Hip Ultrasound
Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2020Failure to appreciate key anatomic features and suboptimal sonographic technique lead to incorrect assessment of the key elements of developmental dysplasia of the hip: position, stability, and morphology. In this article, we address common errors, identify sonographic features critical for accurate image interpretation, and address measurement ...

Ultrasound Screening for Dysplasia of the Hip
Pediatrics, 1995The three-part study of ultrasound screening in Norway by Rosendahl et al is a well conducted study and is valuable because it adds to our knowledge about sonographic hip screening in the newborn. Readers must be careful not to generalize from this study that ultrasound has no role in detecting developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

Ultrasound examination of the irritable hip
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1990We made a prospective study of 111 children with acute hip pain to assess whether ultrasound can replace traditional radiography. An effusion was diagnosed in 71% by ultrasound but in only 15% by radiography. This effusion persisted for a mean of nine days; symptoms lasted for five days.

Ultrasound Evaluation of the Hip
Current Reviews in Musculoskeletal MedicineNon-arthritic hip pain is a common presentation among the general population, with many possible contributing etiologies. While radiographs, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging are all within the standard diagnostic workup, ultrasonography has emerged as a facile tool given its low cost, lack of radiation, and dynamic application.

Ultrasound diagnosis of effusion of the hip
Journal of Tongji Medical University, 1993This paper reports on two prospective studies of ultrasound examination of the hip in 150 healthy subjects and 50 patients with hip joint diseases. The sagittal distance of the anterior recess of the hip was measured on the sonogram of the sagittal section.

Ultrasound of the Postoperative Hip
Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 2013Imaging of the postoperative hip with ultrasound can be difficult and challenging. The primary role of ultrasound is to help determine whether or not there is infection. It is difficult at times to differentiate between complex fluid and synovium.

Bedside Ultrasound for Hip Dislocations
The Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2012Bedside ultrasound in the emergency department is being used with increasing frequency and for an increasing scope of conditions.Demonstrate the use of bedside ultrasound as an adjunct for diagnosis of hip dislocation.A traumatic anterior hip dislocation was diagnosed with bedside ultrasound after an initial normal plain radiograph.Although the current

Prevalence of Hip Ultrasound Abnormalities in Newborns With a Hip Click
Clinical Pediatrics, 2020A hip click on examination of the newborn hip is believed to be the result of a ligament or myofascial structure and thought to be benign. Some studies suggest a link between hip clicks and developmental dysplasia of the hip. The purpose of our study is to estimate the prevalence of ultrasound hip abnormalities in newborns with a hip click and an ...
