Ultrasound of the painful hip in children
The British Journal of Radiology, 1986The condition of “irritable hip” is well recognised in children and is probably the result of a transient synovitis of uncertain origin. It usually occurs in the under-10 years age group and is a benign condition which settles with bed-rest and analgesia.

Ultrasound Hip Evaluation in Achondroplasia
Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 2008During the period from 1985 to 2006, 22 children (44 hips) affected by achondroplasia were ultrasonographically evaluated. The patients' age at examination ranged from 7 days to 29 months. The hip ultrasound (US) examination was performed, according to Graf's method, using a Siemens Sonoline sonogram with linear 5.0- and 7.5-MHz probes. In all the hips,

Ultrasound for hip assessment in the newborn
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1989The hips of 1000 newborn babies were examined clinically and by ultrasonography. The ultrasound assessment was based on measurements of the coverage of the femoral head by the bony acetabular roof, and this parameter was called the Bony Rim Percentage (BRP). The mean BRP was 55.3% in girls and 57.2% in boys, a significant difference.

Ultrasound-Guided Hip Injections
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2019The diagnosis of hip pain can be difficult to isolate because the discomfort can originate from several locations and compensatory pain patterns. Pain generators can include the intra- and extra-articular hip structures, the lumbar spine, the pelvic floor, or a combination of these.

Ultrasound of the hip in childhood
The British Journal of Radiology, 1986We read with interest two articles (Adam et al, 1986; Peck, 1986) on the subject of ultrasound of the hip in childhood. We are pleased to see that others consider this technique of value and that their findings agree broadly with those that we described in January 1984 (Wilson et al, 1984).

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Applications in the Hip
Journal of Dance Medicine & Science, 2011This article illustrates how ultrasound (US) can be useful in the evaluation of painful hips. For an experienced examiner using high quality equipment, US is the imaging test of choice for tendon abnormalities, hernias, bursitis, and dynamic abnormalities such as extra-articular snapping hip. Ultrasound is also useful in screening for hip effusions and

Ultrasound-guided Adult Hip Injections
Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2005The authors believe that ultrasound as a primary method of image guidance for performing hip aspirations is underutilized, and the authors report their experience in performing ultrasound-guided hip injections in 358 patients, using a free-hand technique.A retrospective review of all adult ultrasound-guided hip injections performed at the authors ...

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is one of the most common disorders of the hip and refers to a disease involving both the acetabulum and proximal femur. Early and accurate diagnosis is of paramount importance to avoid late sequel of the hip joint. To date, hip ultrasound (US) is the preferred diagnostic tool.
