Detection of the toxin Hirsutellin A from Hirsutella thompsonii.

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2002
A total of 162 strains of Hirsutella thompsonii, isolated from infected mites collected worldwide, were examined for the production of Hirsutellin A (HtA). More than half of the broth filtrates exhibited mortality rates superior to 50% when assayed against Galleria mellonella.

Estimated divergence times of Hirsutella (asexual morphs) in Ophiocordyceps provides insight into evolution of phialide structure [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2018
Background Hirsutella Pat genus, the asexual morphs of the Ophiocordyceps Sung, is globally distributed entomopathogenic fungi, which infect a variety of arthropods, mites and nematodes.

Conidiation of Hirsutella thompsonii var. synnematosa in submerged culture

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1984
Abstract Fourteen monosporal isolates of Hirsutella thompsonii grew vegetatively in various liquid media producing typical phialidic-like conidiophores. Hirsutella thompsonii var. synnematosa from Ivory Coast (HtIC) was the only pathotype which produced true conidia in submerged culture. HtIC began producing conidia after 3 days incubation reaching a

Hirsutella thompsonii and Pochonia chlamydosporia (Syn. Verticillium chlamydosporium) Mycelia Growth and Predation on Panagrellus redivivus

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2017
This research aimed to evaluate the nematophagous ability of 4077-Verticillium chlamydosporium var. chlamydosporium and 4466-Hirsutella thompsonii isolates and relate mycelia growth to the influence provoked by movement of nematodes.

Isozyme differentiation among 17 geographical isolates of Hirsutella thompsonii

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1982
Abstract Electrophoretic analysis of mycelial preparations of 17 isolates of Hirsutella thompsonii demonstrated extensive variability in isozyme content. Many isolates possessed distinct electromorphs used to group or separate individual isolates. Coefficients of similarity based on isozyme patterns closely followed the morphological scheme used to

Hirsutella thompsonii and Metarhizium anisopliae as potential microbial control agents of Varroa destructor, a honey bee parasite.

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2002
The potential of Hirsutella thompsonii Fisher and Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschinkoff) as biological control agents of the parasitic mite, Varroa destructor Anderson and Trueman was evaluated in the laboratory and in observation hives. In the laboratory, time required for 90% cumulative mortality of mites (LT(90)) was 4.16 (3.98-4.42) days for H ...

Primeiro relato de atividade patogênica de Hirsutella thompsonii (Fischer) sobre o ácaro-da-erinose-da-lichia Aceria litchii (Keifer) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The litchi erineum mite, Aceria litchii (Keifer) is found in all producing regions attacking leaves and flowers of litchi plants. The mite attack young leaves and causes the erinea on leaf surface, which later become brown galls with velvety appearance ...

Effects of Formulated Imidacloprid on Two Mite Pathogens, Neozygites Floridana (Zygomycotina: Zygomycetes) and Hirsutella Thompsonii (Deuteromycotina: Hyphomycetes) [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Tropical Insect Science, 2001
Neozygites floridana (Weiser & Muma) Remaudiere & Keller and Hirsutella thompsonii Fisher are important fungal pathogens of mites on cassava in Benin. Bioassays were conducted to evaluate the influence of four concentrations (50, 100, 200 and 500 ppm) of a water-dispersible formulation (Gaucho 70 WS) of imidacloprid on the conidial germination of these

Can microbial-based insecticides replace chemical pesticides in agricultural production? [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Biotechnol, 2023
Abstract Extensive use of chemical insecticides to control insect pests in agriculture has improved yields and production of high‐quality food products. However, chemical insecticides have been shown to be harmful also to beneficial insects and many other organisms like vertebrates.
