Dose-dependent effects of extracted microcystins on embryonic development, larval growth and histopathological changes of southern catfish (Silurus meridionalis)

open access: yes, 2008
A laboratory toxic experiment was conducted to examine dose-dependent effects of extracted microcystins (MCs) on embryonic development, larval growth and histopathological changes of southern catfish (Silurus meridionalis). Fertilized eggs were incubated

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Wheat Germ Oil and Propolis Decrease Parasite Burden and Restore Marked Histopathological Changes in Liver and Lung in Mice with Chronic Toxoplasmosis

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic zoonotic disease with a worldwide distribution. Its effects can be critical in immunocompromised patients. However, there is a limited availability of effective, low-toxicity drugs against this disease, particularly in its ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Study of histopathological changes in atrophic rhinitis [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, 1999
A punch biopsy from the inferior turbinate was taken in 71 consecutive cases of atrophic rhinitis and studied for histopahtological changes. Squamous metaplasia was seen in 85 percent of cases. Tunica propria showed granulation tissue (41 percent) and chronic inflammatory cellular infiltrate (32 percent).

Serum biochemical and histopathological changes in liver and kidney in lambs after zinc oxide nanoparticles administration

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Zinc is an essential co-factor for many enzymatic activities and its deficiency may produce clinical signs of parakeratosis, loss and failure of growth of wool and hair in sheep.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Morphological and Histopathological Changes in Orofacial Structures of Experimentally Developed Acromegaly-Like Rats: An Overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Tongue enlargement and mandibular prognathism are clinically recognized in almost all patients with acromegaly. An acromegaly-like rat model recently developed by exogenous administration of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) was used to investigate ...
