Potential Trophic Competition Between the European Perch Perca fluviatilis and Pikeperch Sander lucioperca

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 111, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The European perch Perca fluviatilis and pikeperch Sander lucioperca can co‐occur, potentially competing for food resources. However, few studies have addressed the potential feeding competition between these species. We used carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analysis to assess the potential trophic competition between these species in two ...

Finite Element Modeling of a Thermoplastic Polyurethane Ball for Rolling Seismic Isolation

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 4, Page 926-946, 10 April 2026.
ABSTRACT The Elastomeric‐Ball Pendulum (EBP) system, which consists of an elastomeric ball rolling on a spherical concrete surface, has been proposed as an isolation system for lightweight structures. Experimental tests have shown that the mechanics of such a rolling ball are remarkably complicated because the vertical load changes the shape of the ...

The Oldest Traces of Alcoholic Beverages in the Border Zone of the North and East European Plains

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 153-172, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Analysis of organic compounds preserved on pottery from the Bell Beaker community and the initial phase of the Trzciniec Cultural Sphere in the border zone of the Eastern and North European Plains was prompted by traces of alcoholic beverages found in contextually and formally analogous discoveries of more westerly provenance.

Eye can see clearly now: Identifying the locus associated with a white‐eye mutation in honey bees (Apis mellifera)

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 209-215, April 2026.
We performed a community science investigation with the beekeepers nationwide to find phenotypic mutants. Alongside a beekeeper in Kentucky, we performed a GWAS to identify a region associated with a white‐eye phenotype. We identified an eight bp region in a non‐coding RNA strongly associated with white eyes.
