A unified approach to the performance analysis of caching systems [PDF]
We propose a unified methodology to analyse the performance of caches (both isolated and interconnected), by extending and generalizing a decoupling technique originally known as Che's approximation, which provides very accurate results at low ...

An adaptive appearance-based map for long-term topological localization of mobile robots [PDF]
This work considers a mobile service robot which uses an appearance-based representation of its workplace as a map, where the current view and the map are used to estimate the current position in the environment.

Note on hit-and-miss topologies
The author continues his paper [Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo, II. Ser. 45, No. 1, 75-83 (1996; Zbl 0907.54010)], concerning hit-and-miss topologies on the set \(\text{Cl}(X)\) of nonempty closed subsets of a topological space \(X\), taking always closed sets to produce the hit-and-miss basic open sets (\(\Delta\)-topologies).

Double P-Tree: A Distributed Architecture for Large-Scale Video-on-Demand [PDF]
In order to ensure a more widespread implementation of video-ondemand (VoD) services, it is essential that the design of cost-effective largescale VoD (LVoD) architectures be able to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users. The main keys for

Algorithmic Randomness and Capacity of Closed Sets
We investigate the connection between measure, capacity and algorithmic randomness for the space of closed sets. For any computable measure m, a computable capacity T may be defined by letting T(Q) be the measure of the family of closed sets K which have

Effective Capacity and Randomness of Closed Sets
We investigate the connection between measure and capacity for the space of nonempty closed subsets of {0,1}*. For any computable measure, a computable capacity T may be defined by letting T(Q) be the measure of the family of closed sets which have ...

In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

On the Intrinsic Locality Properties of Web Reference Streams [PDF]
There has been considerable work done in the study of Web reference streams: sequences of requests for Web objects. In particular, many studies have looked at the locality properties of such streams, because of the impact of locality on the design and ...

Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.
