Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Combining HJ CCD, GF-1 WFV and MODIS Data to Generate Daily High Spatial Resolution Synthetic Data for Environmental Process Monitoring

open access: yes, 2015
The limitations of satellite data acquisition mean that there is a lack of satellite data with high spatial and temporal resolutions for environmental process monitoring.

Synergistic Spin‐Polarization and Single‐Atom Engineering in Magnetic Heterojunctions for Efficient Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput screening led to the identification of 67 Z‐scheme heterojunctions (comprising 2D magnetic transition metal halides and non‐magnetic transition metal chalcogenides). For CrI3/MoTe2 and CrI3/WTe2, electronic structure analysis demonstrated that synergistic crystallographic point group and built‐in electric field effects generate a ...

Modeling spatiotemporal distribution of PM10 using HJ-1 CCD data in Luoyang, China

open access: yes, 2017
Previous studies have proved that the statistical models between satellite-retrieved aerosol optical depth (AOD) and ground-level PM10 provide a feasible and effective way to obtain the extensive and continuous spatial distribution of ground-level PM10 ...

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.

Engineering of Crystal and Domain Structures in Epitaxial Y:HfO2 Thin Films by YSZ Substrate Miscut

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate how YSZ substrate miscut influences crystal structure and domain formation in epitaxial Y‐doped HfO2 thin films. Using magnetron sputtering, high‐resolution X‐ray diffraction, atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy, and first‐principles calculations, we systematically examine the characteristics of thickness‐ and ...

Interlayer‐Sliding‐Enabled Multiferroicity and Giant Switchable Anomalous Hall Conductivity in RuO2Zn2F2 Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interlayer sliding in the RuO2Zn2F2 bilayer induces ferroelectricity and enables reversible valley polarization switching. The electric dipole and valley‐resolved band edges are intimately coupled, revealing sliding ferroelectricity as a powerful mechanism for electrical control of valley degrees of freedom in 2D materials.
