Numerous incidents of thromboembolic complications have been documented in cancer patients and in recipients of mismatched organ transplants. Tumor procoagulants have also been implicated in the process of metastasis. Two protein bands of 35,000 and 28,000 daltons isolated from human ovarian carcinoma possessed procoagulant activity.

HLA-DR TYPING BY RADIOIMMUNOASSAY

A radioimmunoassay procedure is described by which peripheral blood lymphocytes can be typed for HLA-DR specificities. The major advantages of this method are the following: simple and reproducible procedure, no need for B lymphocyte separation, no need for optimal viability, and no need for preabsorption of antisera with platelets.

HLA‐DR and monoclonal gammopathy

The frequencies of the HLA‐DR antigens were compared in 3 groups: a group of 33 patients with multiple myeloma (MM) or Morbus Waldenström (MW); a group of 34 persons with benign monoclonal gammopathy (BMG); and a group of 118 healthy controls. No statistically significant associations were observed.

Crystallization of HLA-DR antigens

The class II major histocompatibility antigens HLA-DR1, DR2, DR3, DR4, DR7 and DR8 were purified by immunoaffinity chromatography from homozygous human B lymphoblastoid cell lines. The purified, detergent-soluble molecules were cleaved with the protease papain to remove the hydrophobic transmembrane regions and cytoplasmic tails. Crystals were obtained

HLA Dr Antigens in Rheumatoid Arthritis

The prevalence and possible prognostic significance of HLA-DR antigens have been studied in 129 patients with seropositive (RF-positive) classical rheumatoid arthritis (RA). HLA-DR4 was increased in RA, whilst HLA-DR2 was decreased, though it was not associated with either low titres of RF or with good prognosis.
