Abstract High‐resolution gridded data sets provide valuable opportunities to enhance drought forecasting, but applying complex machine learning algorithms across large spatial domains is computationally challenging. This study presents a novel hybrid approach for forecasting the gridded Standardized Precipitation‐Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) across ...

This study reveals that the glycolytic enzyme HK2 mediates hypoxia‐induced astrocytic exosome biogenesis by directly phosphorylating nSMase1. These astrocytic exosomes impair brain endothelial tight junctions. Astrocyte‐specific knockdown of HK2 reduces exosome release and alleviates brain injury after MCAO.

Vibration of a Flexible Hanging Chain with a Mass on the End in a Nonstationary Regime of the Motion Mechanism in Hoisting Machines [PDF]
The article is focused on the vibrations of a heavy chain with a mass on the end when the hoisting machines are in a nonstationary regime of motion, assuming that motor or brake torque is a linear function of the speed of the motion mechanism.

Integrated Turbulence and Machine Learning Models Explain Pier Scour in Erodible Channels
Abstract Pier scour, a primary cause of bridge failures, stems from turbulent erosion at the pier's approach surface, jeopardizing bridge stability and influencing both river morphology and interactions between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The scouring process, initiated by turbulent eddies interacting with sediments over erodible channels ...
