Mutational Signature‐Based Biomarker for Phase II Trial of Olaparib Maintenance in Advanced High‐Grade Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
A whole‐exome sequencing–based mutational signature biomarker (MSBM) identified an HRD‐enriched population in advanced ovarian cancer. In a phase II trial, olaparib maintenance suggested clinically meaningful PFS benefit without bevacizumab, supporting MSBM as a complementary HRD assessment approach.

A new branch of mammalian vitamin B6 metabolism: AKR1C‐mediated conversion of pyridoxal to pyridoxine and 4‐pyridoxolactone

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Pyridoxal 5′‐phosphate (PLP) homeostasis relies on salvage enzymes, yet key metabolic branches remain undefined. We identify AKR1C isozymes as previously undescribed contributors that convert pyridoxal into pyridoxine or 4‐pyridoxolactone through reductase and dehydrogenase activities.

Small-Bowel Impaction Caused by Mechanical Interlocking Between Duodenal Metal and Biliary Plastic Stents. [PDF]

open access: yesDEN Open
ABSTRACT Duodenal self‐expandable metal stents (SEMS) are widely used to treat malignant gastric outlet obstruction (GOO). However, stent migration is a well‐known complication. We report a rare case of small‐bowel impaction caused by the migration of a duodenal SEMS with a biliary plastic stent (PS).
