Applications of hollow core fibers
The 16th Annual Meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, 2003. LEOS 2003., 2005In this paper, we focus on the optical communication applications of the HCF and will review the design philosophies, fabrication arts, device integration, and system demonstration.

Abstract We propose a new type of hollow-core fiber where the propagation is ensured by a photoinduced self-pattern acting as a surface relief grating (SRG). The SRG is written by launching a suitable laser beam with proper polarization in a capillary glass fiber with the inner surface previously coated with an azopolymer thin film.

Anti-Resonant Hollow Core Fibers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2019, 2019Hollow core fibers based on anti-resonant confinement have demonstrated attractive properties including ultrashort pulse delivery, low attenuation at mid-infrared wavelengths, and damage-free delivery of light in the ultraviolet. Their potential for future development is discussed.

Simplified hollow-core photonic crystal fiber
Optics Letters, 2010An original design of hollow-core photonic crystal fiber composed of a thin silica ring suspended in air by six silica struts is proposed. This structure can be viewed as a simplified Kagomé-lattice fiber reduced to one layer of air holes. By working on the core surround parameters, an efficient antiresonant air guiding was successfully demonstrated ...

Birefringent hollow core fibers
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Hollow core photonic crystal fiber (HC-PCF), fabricated according to a nominally non-birefringent design, shows a degree of un-controlled birefringence or polarization mode dispersion far in excess of conventional non polarization maintaining fibers.

The first optical-frequency hollow waveguides were simple parallel-plate guides. The early pioneering work in this field was done by Garmire et al. Her group made a rectangular waveguide using aluminum strips separated by about 0.5 mm with bronze shim stock. This structure is shown in Fig. 3.2. Even when the aluminum was not well polished, these guides
