Numerical simulation of the insert chemistry of the hollow cathode from the deep space 1 ion engine 30,000 Hrs life test

open access: yes, 2007
A model for the insert chemistry developed by the authors and based on the knowledge of the BaO – CaO – Al2O3 ternary system the ELT discharge cathode insert from the Deep Space 1 life test has been simulated. The computed data show a good agreement with

Junction Physics and Architectural Paradigms in Optoelectronic Semiconductor Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic fibers are emerging as a key platform for distributed sensing, energy harvesting, and optical communication in deformable systems. Their performance is fundamentally governed by junction formation under confined, dynamic processing conditions.

On-a-chip microdischarge thruster arrays inspired by photonic device technology for plasma television

open access: yes, 2009
This study shows that the practical scaling of a hollow cathode thruster device to MEMS level should be possible albeit with significant divergence from traditional design.

Interfacial Water Coordination on Ruthenium Oxide Nanoparticles Confined Within Covalent Organic Framework and Its Effect on Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate how oxygen‐deficient ruthenium oxide (RuOx) nanoparticles confined within covalent organic framework achieve highly efficient nitrate‐to‐ammonia conversion. Strong interaction between RuOx nanoparticles and COF results in modified interfacial hydrogen‐bond water network and adsorption of nitrogenous intermediates.

An Investigation into Electrolytes and Cathodes for Room-Temperature Sodium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesBatteries
In the pursuit of high energy density batteries beyond lithium, room-temperature (RT) sodium–sulfur (Na-S) batteries are studied, combining sulfur, as a high energy density active cathode material and a sodium anode considered to offer high energy ...

RF Plasma CVD Using Hollow Cathode Discharge

open access: yes, 1988
We have made a-Si photoreceptors at low pressure to prevent the formation of SimHn powders and by separating the growing surface from the high density plasma.

Unveiling a Hidden Conversion Pathway in CoSe2 Anodes via Rationally Designed CNT‐Interwoven Hollow Carbon Microclusters for High‐Performance Potassium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rational architectural design of hierarchical, CNT‐interwoven hollow carbon microclusters unlocks and stabilizes a unique monoclinic Co3Se4‐mediated conversion–insertion pathway for potassium storage. This structural confinement effectively guides the reaction kinetics and accommodates severe mechanical strain.

Transition Metal Hollow Nanocages as Promising Cathodes for the Long-Term Cyclability of Li–O2 Batteries

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
As a step towards efficient and cost-effective electrocatalytic cathodes for Li–O2 batteries, highly porous hausmannite-type Mn3O4 hollow nanocages (MOHNs) of a large diameter of ~250 nm and a high surface area of 90.65 m2·g−1 were ...
